Group- I am coming to the Tucson area in April and was seeking some recommendations on trails in the area. I am not looking for extreme rock crawling but will take any and all recommendations outside of that.
thanks and I can’t wait to see some beautiful Arizona scenery.
This Weekend (Feb 3 and 4) Runs - 4 to choose from.... (More details in the Arizona Broncos Facebook Group)
We are going to be hosting 2 newbie and 2 newbie/alum runs this weekend. Here's the schedule and meetup spot.
Meet at the "Keyhole" staging area for Sycamore Creek (This is at the intersection of Bush Highway and Highway 87 (Beeline Highway) https://maps.app.goo.gl/zLr48oy1WzJbwU9v5
Coordinates are 33°37'43.8"N 111°33'38.5"W
The "Alumni" Run will start at 9:30AM
The "Newbie" Run will start at 10:00AM
The two groups will meet up at about the halfway point of the trail and go out together.
A little explanation on these runs.
The Alumni run is for those who have either done our Ruby's Newbies Run before or do not need any significant beginner education (You've been off road in your Bronco a handful of times). This group will take the same trail as the newbies. There is one obstacle that you will have spotting help with regardless.
The Newbies run is a run that we host at least once a quarter. It is geared towards the true beginner which we see as someone who has never been off-road in their Bronco before and/or someone who has never ever been off-road before. We offer some additional instruction along the way on both general off-road driving and etiquette, what a spotter is, some talk about gear we use, and specific instruction on the Bronco itself.
We will have help there to air down before the trail and air up afterwards.
Make sure and bring a GMRS/FRS radio along with you as we will be on channel 7 (462.7125). If you do not have a radio we usually have loaners. If you have a brand new radio, watch a video on how to use it. It will make your life much easier!
I just wanted to give everyone here a heads up. We are hosting a Broncos and Bagels event at Larry H Miller Ford in Mesa on Nov 18th from 8:30-10:00. Following that we will have a Ruby's Newbies run at Sycamore Creek starting at 11:00. This is for everyone, even if you have no off road experience. We will meet at the Keyhole which is on the northside of the intersection of Bush and Beeline highways. 33.628953,-111.560800 Hope to see you there.
WHAT TO BRING: Wear appropriate clothing (close toed shoes, sun protection), water and snacks, be prepared to be outside in the elements.

Hello All,
I’m headed up to Sedona next weekend and plan on tackling a couple trails. Looks like the passes for Soldiers Pass aren’t available but curious if my bone stock Wildtrack can do Broken Arrow?
I’ve watched a couple videos on YouTube and other than the KC Bronco, it seemed the others had some modifications done.

FYI: I’ve noticed my downloaded music sounds a lot louder compared to music that is being streamed ( I use TIDAL) figured that out on a long road trip when I had no service. Anyways hope this info helps anyone
Selling my Sasquatch bead-lock beauty rings. $200 for all 5 of them. They are the factory Sasquatch ring with no bolts as I recycled the bolts when I put the black ones on I purchased.
This coming Saturday (9/2/2023) we (Arizona Broncos Facebook and Tucson Broncos Facebook groups) will be hosting a run through Sycamore Creek from Lower Sycamore up through to upper sycamore. This is going to be fun ride with some obstacles. Recommend minimum of 33" but suggest 35" tires and at least rear lockers. Keep in mind that with some of these obstacles, you could scrape or damage regular running boards (Badlands stock rock rails should be fine though) and, though we have cleared some of it out, there are pinstripes possible on this trail. This is a more advanced trail so if you're brand new to off-roading this ride may not be for you.
We will meet at 9:00 AM at the Sycamore Creek Trailhead "Keyhole staging area" which is at the intersection of the Beeline Highway (87) and Bush highway just outside Fort McDowell (Coordinates 33.629057, -111.560841)
Hope to see some of you out there! Let us know if you plan to attend or hop on to the Arizona Broncos Facebook page.
Finally got my Badlands two weeks ago! Looking forward to getting it properly dirty soon. I'm new to off-roading, what resources do ya'll prefer to find new trails/locations?
I have created an event in our FB group for a drive tomorrow. I'm including all of you who aren't on FB to join us as well.
We're going on a scenic drive tomorrow. This is a very easy road and is newbie and Bronco Sport friendly.
We will meet at the Bashas parking lot in Gold Canyon at 8 am. From there we will leave promptly at 8:15 headed towards Miami. From there we will turn north up towards Young, Arizona.
Along the way we will stop at the Workman Creek tubs for a break and possible playing in the water. Next we will proceed north through Young up to highway 260 and turn left heading into Payson.
From there we will head back down to the valley. This will be an all day event as google maps shows the route to be just over 5 1/2 hours plus allowing for our stops we're probably looking at 7-8 hours total door to door.
No gear is required for this trip although having a gmrs walkie talkie radio is helpful. We carry spares so don't rush out to buy one just for this trip.
Hope to see you there!
A couple months ago, my wife posted in our Arizona Facebook Group about thoughts for a Sunrise Run.
Well with yet another over 110 degree day and more coming, the time is NOW (well... Saturday Morning the 22nd) for that run! You might even call it a reverse night run.
We will meet at the (Updated) FIRST staging area at the Four Peaks Trailhead off highway 87 (33.66925, -111.49452) at 3:30-3:45AM (YES AM), air down and be on the trail at 4:00-4:15AM. If the sunrise time of 5:30 is correct, we should hit the overlooks to Roosevelt Lake and 4 Peaks right around sunrise. We’ll watch the sunrise, have a snack and head back down to the staging area where we started to make it an easier drive back home.
Four Peaks is an easy trail that has amazing views and is friendly to all Bronco configurations. There are some nice climbs and descents, and the road does get narrow in places along the ledge.
Remember, we will be starting at night so if you are not comfortable with night runs or have never been off-road, this is not the run for you.
Make sure you bring the following in addition to your regular gear.
• Water (Whatever you think you will need, double it)
• GMRS Radio (we will use channel 7 (462.7125))
• Chair(s) if you want to sit down or a blanket.
• Coffee if you like (and whatever you need to make it)
• Snack for the sunrise.
Who’s in? Please make sure and respond here if you are going or head over to the Arizona Broncos Facebook Group and reply. We’d love to see you there.
Here is the report I did on FB for this mornings run.
Trail Report – Sunrise run to Four Peaks 7-22-2023
This trip started with a “what do you think of this idea” question from Graham. What I thought was “are you crazy?” After a little back and forth we agreed and the run was announced. Now all I had to do was convince Kari that she “wanted” to get up at 2:00 AM.
Well as you probably know we don’t get anything done except for the last minute so a 2:00 AM run was going to require a little extra for us. We actually had to get everything together a day early, gas up the vehicles and have everything packed the night before.
Usually we’re like hey, the plane leaves in two hours, we should probably do some laundry real quick and pack
So, the 2 AM alarm was as obnoxious as I expected it to be. Although with a Bronco run in our sites, getting Kari up at this early hour wasn’t as bad as I expected it to be. It’s amazing what a positive influence you all are on her.
Up and loaded by 2:30 we headed out the door and on our way. To our surprise we see another Bronco on the road. They must be going with us I thought as nobody in there right mind would be out at this hour otherwise. Mike called out on the radio and said good morning.
We proceeded down highway 87 towards Payson. In short time we were turning off the highway toward the trailhead. Our group of three Broncos was the first to arrive. We quickly started up the airing down process. While tires were deflating, Michael and I set up the Rough Country street light I bought Kari for Christmas. Wow this thing lights up a whole parking lot!
One by one others started pulling into the lot. Then more kept coming until finally 15 Broncos had made the early morning trek.
With everyone aired down, we had a quick drivers meeting and we loaded up for the drive up to the summit. With our tires aired down, the rough washboard road was no match for the amazing Broncos. With no traffic on the road and only a lone camper on the side of the road we made good time. I’m sure they were like WTF it’s 4:30 in the morning, where did all these people come from and don’t they know it’s time to sleep?
After passing the camper we only came across one other vehicle that was parked on the side of the road. It was most likely broken down but it didn’t appear to have anyone nearby. Although this road isn’t technically challenging with fifteen vehicles on the trail the dust is pretty thick and some of the ravine on the side of the road were a challenge. That and a few very narrow areas required skill to get around without hitting a rock wall or washout.
About an hour and fifteen minutes we were up at the summit. With everyone taking a spot in the parking lot we quickly proceeded out of the vehicles to get our views of the sunrise. Luckily since nobody required a potty break on the way up we made it just before sunrise with about five minutes to spare.
Out came the drones, cameras, and cell phones to capture this moment. Café Taylor broke out their coffee barista costumes and offered up refreshments for those so inclined.
About thirty minutes later we decided that it was time to head back. Several expressed interest in continuing over the mountain down the other side and having breakfast in Pumpkin Center. Roll Call was taken and four of the group decided to make that trek.
With those four gone, the remaining eleven headed down the mountain. With the sun at our back and sufficient light for the trail we made good time getting down. We came across a couple of tour groups and a couple other random vehicles along the way.
We passed the trailhead and headed across the highway to air up at the upper Sycamore pulloff. The hoods went up and so did the air pressures. In short time, everyone was back at street pressures and we said our goodbyes.
Graham asked if anyone was interested in joining them for Breakfast at Broken Yolk at Southern and Gilbert. When we left the lot there was ten people headed to breakfast. It was a great opportunity to wind down and get some nourishment after our early morning adventures.
Thanks to all those who made the early morning adventure with us. It was truly a surprise to see such a large turnout for this event. Until our next get together,
Happy Trails!
Hey everyone! I finally got my Bronco last month. I have been out of town working so I haven't had much drive time... other than the quick ride from Granger. I'm looking forward to breaking her in and getting her dirty!
Hey everyone! Got my estimated build date of July 24th! Super excited to get my 2dr Wildtrak in (but not so excited about the payment ) I'm located in northern Tucson and am fairly new to off-roading. I already have Mt Lemmon and Redington in the plans, but was wondering what you all recommend for some good trails?
Also, if theres a Bronco group for Tucson/Southern AZ, let me know please!
