I'm going this Sunday 8/21 with a friend who also has a Bronco. It will be both our first times off-road with the Broncos or to Uwharrie.

2 part post:
1: Anyone with modular bumper that's upgrading to aftermarket, I'd be interested in your takeoff.

2: I've got OEM rails for free for a 4 door in Chapel Hill. You'd just need the brackets they connect to.

Heading to Cape Hatteras on Wednesday! My kid and I are staying at an AirBNB in Frisco, and will probably spend Thursday on Ocrocoke (never been) and Friday tooling around Hatteras.

For those of you that drive out on the beach, how do you wash off the sand and salt from underneath your Bronco?

Yeah, I'm not getting around that. Was just wondering if it was even possible. Fort Fisher sounds like a good option. Thanks guys!

I was out on Fort Fisher a few weeks ago. Didn't air down and things went fine. I think the day pass was $30 and season pass is $90. Can also go Carolina Beach but I haven't been yet.

I was at Fort Fisher Saturday... also did not air down but I think it would've handled a lot better if I had. Steering was difficult at anything about 2-3 mph... Mostly I was in 4H.

*almost* got stuck in some really soft sand after coming to a stop and turning off the engine. When I turned it back on, it came on in 2 wheel drive mode and when I switched for 4H it said I had to pull forward to get into 4 wheel drive. Well, pulling forward wasn't really happening :) I did manage to get it into 4WD though.

So, I guess... be careful where you stop!

I dunno why it came on in 2WD mode... it didn't do that later in the trip.

Heading to Corolla Beach next week. Looking for some ideas on beaches that allow vehicles on the beach and can pull up to the water. Not parking over night, just planning to hang out multiple days during the day at the beach.

Sorry of this is redudent, but I scrolled through and didn't see an answer and google talks about a parking pass but I dont think I need that.

Not staying on the beach, but a mile from it.

First time driving on sand, besides switching to sand mode and taking tire PSI to 15, any other suggestions with the bronco?
TheShark
TheShark
I took my tires down to 18 and didn't have a problem, as HorizonHunter said gentle on your brakes. As a side story when I was up in Carova in May for a Bronco get together one of the guys was showing us a picture from the day before of a Jeep that burned up. Apparently not only didn't the guy air down he was actually running at 54psi! Don't know if he was confused and thought he had to add air. :)
Greg Helmick

Thanks for all the advice, took the tires down to 18 yesterday and drove about 8 miles on the beach to a friend's house. No issues at all. Drove on the road about seven miles and then a couple trips less than seven miles one way. No issues with not filling back up

Are there any upcoming meetups and trail rides? I finally got my first day res Bronco this month and cant wait to explore what the Carolinas have to offer.

Does anyone know what the closest place to go off-road to Charlotte/Huntersville would be? Anything from a small local trail/area to the closest national forest with trails.

Not far from there.

@GOAT Yes.
Normally when we go and get going by 10 or 10:30, 1:00 is reasonable. Good thing is we can figure out a route and regroup as needed to get you out of there on time if you need to cut it short.

Question. Is anyone interested in doing a Blue Ridge Bronco Ride this Summer? I am thinking Starting or ending from Little Switzerland (Linville Falls/ Winery area) and going to / or from Cherokee area. It would be nice to have 5-15 Broncos make the ride. Let me know if any of you are interested. If so, does the weekend of July 16/ 17th work for you? I already of a few local Bronco friends who want to meet up in Western Carolina. Hurricane Creek ride is still on the books for July 2nd as well. See you out there my friends!

I stopped going there when the GM Pete was replaced. Most that staff works at Henrick Jeep now. I’m with Crossroads now. Got mine at Dunn and Wife’s at Pinehurst. They texted me weekly with updates and even gave me $500 under MSRP for the troubles Ford created during the process. The Dunn dealership is also the one who got both rigs beadlocks color matched at a decent price.

Have seen maybe 5 Broncos since getting mine last year. Sooo few still.
TheShark

Mine was an abandoned order and Crown sold me it for MSRP so I can't complain, Crossroads Ford of Apex which is near me is asking anywhere from $12 to $18k markup for Broncos on the lot. I'll be going there for service.

Hey guys. Nice to meet you. I have 4dr Badlands. After 20 years in Cary/Apex, we moved just west of Jordan Lake (Pittsboro). I bought mine from Crossroads Apex for MSRP (reserved July 2020), which is where I bought the 2015 Mustang GT that I owned for years and sold recently.
HorizonHunter
Pleasantly surprised when I went to leave cars and coffee today that another Broncos of the Carolinas member had parked next to me. If anyone knows who this 2dr OBX is, sorry we didn't connect.

My first time there as well, way way bigger than I was expecting. There were a few gems but a lot of over modified boy racer cars. Anytime I think I've done to many mods to my Bronco I just need to go to one of these shows. I did talk to a nice lady with gen 1 Bronco and there was a beautiful Austin Healey 3000 MKIII.

My Bronco mod funds have been redirected to wife's home addition funds and "I want another baby funds" so I'm having to cool it on anything major for now. But you're absolutely right, ton of heavily modified, and a couple were well done.

Not that many. You'll have celebrity status, so get used to lots of attention. There are Jeeps everywhere and the off-road community is very friendly down here.
BroncoPVC
BroncoPVC
That's good to know about the off road community. It's huge out here and over the past few months more and more Broncos have been delivered so mine has become less of a unicorn. I'm looking forward to meeting some new off road friends when I get there. I hope to see you around.
AJKitebrder40
I'm in Charleston too, I'm in Jeep clubs and still on fence if I'll take my Bronco reservation if it ever shows. There are a lot of trails out in Francis Marion, some gravel, some natural, some mud, ha. My neighbor ironically has a Bronco so we head out once in awhile.
BroncoPVC
BroncoPVC
@AJKitebrder40 take the reservation when it comes in. You won't be disappointed. Then we can start a Bronco club too.
AJKitebrder40
@BroncoPVC Yeah in the meantime (still scheduled for production) - I have my JLUR, when it cools off and maybe stops raining so much we can hit some trails out at Francis Marion. It's mostly mud/ruts, but.....something to do.

Good Afternoon Everyone. Last week, I asked people on this Forum feed if you were interested in going to Western Carolina, Hurricane Creek (Off-Roading) and many of you stated that you would be interested at a later date. Tentatively, we are looking at July 2nd, Saturday morning. I went yesterday with my friend Gary to check it out and report back to the group. It was amazing! I would say that the 3 hour ride (along the creek) was more challenging then I remembered. Super Fun. I would rate it 5/10. Strongly recommend 35” or 33” Badlands. Gary and I are not the most experienced off-road drivers and it pushed us to our comfort limit. I made a short video of some clips within Hurricane Creek. Please let me know if you have any questions or if you are onboard for July 2nd.

Upcoming Bronco Events:
Everyone be sure to check out a few events we have coming up and let me know if you know of any other Bronco events so I can post them to the site. Doesn't have to be in the Carolinas just Bronco related or at least Ford related.

Check out upcoming Broncos Of the Carolinas events HERE

We have a Uwharrie drive coming up on June 4th. Wondering if anyone on here would be interested in leading this ride? Just looking for a few people that are familiar with the trails and feel comfortable leading the pack. We will have a few newbies out with us as well so figured it'd be good to get some people that know the trails. I personally haven't been out to Uwharrie since high school so I'd love a refresher on the trails myself.
RSVP for the Uwharrie trail ride here

I can lead one. I've done everything out there in the Bronco except the front side of Daniel, which I do not recommend.

Lots of people will tell you that you can do any trail in a stock vehicle, and most of the trails can be done in one, but not that one.
Most of them can be done in 2WD for the majority of the time, but I put it in 4Hi and just roll on.
I have GMRS and the OnX offroad app, and highly recommend both. The App especially. None of the trail maps you find online are 100% accurate, but close enough. The App is spot-on.
I printed two different ones off the 'Net, put them back to back, laminated it, which is a good start.

Recommended "easy routes":

Wolf's den to Falls Dam, back up the gravel Dutch John Rd. (NOT Dutch John trail), back across Rocky Mtn. Loop to SawMill, looped back to Wolf's den. Easy few hours' ride with a few sections of rock, bypasses as well for most things.

More intermediate/challenging:
Rocky Mtn loop clockwise to the front side of Daniel (couple of minor rocky hill climbs, more challenging rock obstacles at the top. Turn around and go back down it, Continue RML to Slab Pile, back over on Falls Dam to Dickey Bell. Then back out through RML again either direction depending on time/desire to continue.

Dickey Bell has one intermediate-difficult hill climb with several rock ledges and rock gardens, but I did it in mine with no slippage in 4Lo with the SBD and rear locker on, no slipping or crazy jumping. Some rock rash on the underside and bash plates. There are "Bypasses" But I never paid any attention to how much easier they were, as I had my sights set on challenging the hill climb.

@broadicustomworks I’m going to come on the 4th. Will rock rails be necessary? I have them but would rather not take off my step bars (mobility issues).
broadicustomworks
broadicustomworks
@RogueSqdn For what it's worth, I have not hit my rock rails yet. I have hit the crossmembers underneath and the skid plates a few times.
I think you will be fine, especially if you stay with a group that stays away from any trail starting with a "D" (Daniel, Dickey Bell, Dutch John).
95% of the trails out there are just fine for most 4X4 vehicles without concern.

@bltfrdtgh if you want me to lead, let me know.
Not sure how many we are expecting or how many different groups.
Might be a good idea if it hasn’t been done is get a list, find out who wants to do what level of trail, go from there.
