Dealership saved itself $70 on a decal. Have the clearcoat wet sanded and polished by a paint shop. They may use a tool for removing paint runs to cut down that ridge before sanding. Take the bill to the dealership and complain loudly if they won't pay.
My top was fully replaced twice. The third cracked. Ford refused to replace it precisely because the cracking is widespread and they now consider it "normal." So much for your theory.
Yes, it's the longer of the 3-36 or the service part -- which for the top is 12 mos (and I forget what it is but I think there's a mileage limitation). I got the 12 mos directly from Ford. Edit: 12k miles like said above.
Ford does not give a shit. They will not lift a finger. Your only option is to sue. Forget about persuading Ford to give you a different hard top even if you offer to pay the difference. Ford knows this problem is extremely widespread and is going to limit its exposure as best it can.

I got both front panels replaced for that reason (and the rest of the top for other reasons). The center weatherstrip was also popped up near the back toward the center panel. The panels had never been off and got worse over time. That was the first time Fix Or Repair Daily replaced my hard...
