Just thought I would mention... I got a bottle jack that has all kinds of extensions. So far I am impressed. May turn out to be crap but it seems pretty well built. It packs away in a really small nice little bag. Made in China but what isn't anymore... Just somethin to think about...

I do not know if you could paint over it or not.... I am not telling you not to.... I just do not know how well it would adhere or how long it would last. I doubt it would cause it harm... I just do not know.

I would not use it on a drive shaft or axle either... I agree with you. Like I said though I think the Drive shafts are some sort of Corten steel (or similar) where the rust layer actually is intended and becomes a passivation layer where the rust can not dig any deeper than just the surface.
