I think an easy solution would be a wrap with Velcro attach ends to go around the cylinder made out if some material that will not rip that just covers the cylinder so it can rub with out scratching

As to small pieces when mine blew metal filled the oil pan blew out the plug and penetrated both turbos and all lines- it was like a blender of ground up parts through everything. So not unusual

Check your engine date bet it is inside the two+ month production date destroy window of bad motors

Every cylinder and all water plus oil blow through out my engine when I’d crashed most likely yours crashed like all of them and the water came from the destruction when it blew the lines. You have someone in service misinformed call Ford

I find it interesting that of all of us that have had new motors installed only one had a second fault and I think I read that even that one was a different issue. My new one was produced first part of Oct. and thus far no issues. Makes you think that those engines were corrected before sending...
