You're right. I do remember hearing that Ford found the secret to permanent oil that never breaks down or needs changing. I think they found it on the Rosetta stone where they also found out how the pyramids were built. Unfortunately they destroyed the secret so they are actually the only people...
I'm sure Ford wants people to belive the trans fluid lasting the lifetime of the trans and I guess they would be correct. They just dont publish how long that lifetime will be. Im sure keeping the same oil forever will make the lifetime much shorter than changing it and giving it fresh fluid.
Ok. That's what I would think too. Its not letting me upload picture on my phone but my oil is 5k so due for a change so it's dark vs it being bone dry when I test the truck after sitting for more that 10 minutes.
I guess I'll know for sure when I dump the oil and measure how much is in there
Looking to see if anyone with a lift/leveling kit has an issue with their dip stick showing no oil.
I have 7 qts of oil in the 2.7 and a lift/leveling kit. When I check my oil in a cold engine the dip stick is bone dry. When I run the truck til operating temp and turn it off for 5 minutes there...

I'm starting to wonder if the oil consumption mentioned in the manual is where the missing 7th qt goes. Bc my truck was exactly 1 qt low and I wonder if each oil change after will be fine.
