Moardoor Monday: Let's See Them Four Doors

I've owned both 2-door (BL non-SAS) and 4 door (BL SAS). My experience:

• 2-door was more fun to drive. Could be due to less wheel/tire weight on the non-SAS.
• 4-door hauls more so less trips to storage unit. FYI no room to store a trailer.
• I thought it was easy to get in and out of the back seat on the 2-door, my passengers did not agree.
• Didn't notice a difference off road but am just doing sand and loose dirt no tight trails.

But I have been enjoying the trash talk, sorry to interrupt....

Be that as it may, the 4 door looks even worse.

The proportions make sense on a 4 door. Clearly you're wrong about this as evidenced by lackluster 2 door sales and the eventual discontinuation of it entirely. Hell, even the boomer-bait, ugly as sin Stroppe edition didn't sell well enough in a 2 door to keep it alive.

Sure, a BMW has a face that looks like it wants to have a technical discussion about gear ratios, where the Shelby has a face that looks like it wants to rip your leg off and beat you over the head with it.
But it is a sexy face!

The newer mustangs look "ok" I guess. They're no 64 fastback though. But everywhere between 64 and like 2020, they loon like hell and they drive even worse

You obviously have never driven a GT350.

Your pics illustrate why I dont prefer the 6g 2 door to the 4. With the OG Broncos the proportions were better. Ford didn't nail the proportions with the 2 door 6g imo.

The engine bay is too long compared to the back end. The front is long and the back is short. Too short.

Look at the OG profile in your pic and you'll see the front is in proportion with the back. If thats how the 6g 2 door would have been then I would have went that route. Instead I just feel like they look stubby and "toyish"

Anyway, I wondered if the 6G 2-door would have looked better if it used the same shorter front door that’s used on the 4-door. If it did it would have the exact same proportions as the OG. Here’s a comparison:

I have not and I would appreciate the seat time for sure.
I have driven GTs, Cobras, Camaros, Challengers and a few classics. Some of them have some nice zoom zoom straight line power but they aren't very agile and they just feel sketchy to me in general, when compared to anything German or even some of the finely built Jap cars I've driven and owned.

I have driven GTs, Cobras, Camaros, Challengers and a few classics. Some of them have some nice zoom zoom straight line power but they aren't very agile and they just feel sketchy to me in general, when compared to anything German or even some of the finely built Jap cars I've driven and owned.

I have tracked the Cayman and the GT350... I would take the GT350 over the Cayman based on handling, braking & acceleration. It is a true track car. The OEM Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2's do make a huge difference.
If the Cayman was a GT4... different story now!

Yeah... these are NOT track cars. I have owned several. Great for the quarter mile, but not track worthy out of the box.

Due to the feminization of the American male more than anything else.

The Stroppe didn't sell well because it was an appearance package on a $60K Badlands that Ford then wanted $80K for.

I do think it looks better with the OG proportions. I would also say that I think the 6Gs have too high of a belt line as well.

I would venture they went with the longer doors in order to facilitate easier rear seat access.

I have no doubt that the gt350 drives a hell of a lot nicer than the other American bricks I've driven. It is definitely a track car and I have not experienced being able to drive one. Those Michelins are fine tires too. No doubt in my mind it's a fine car. For looks and performance, I'd still take an M3 or M4 over the Gt350.

A gt4 cayman would be nice, wouldn't it? Lol
