Oh dang! How long did that adventure take??

11 Days. It was scheduled for longer but weather was bad most of the trip

we had high winds and rain in the Dakotas which is expected. Mount Rushmore was fogged in.

Also stopped at Devils
National Monument in Wyoming. It was snowing and foggy

Yellowstone was snowing all 3 days we were there. Temperatures were 41 high and 19 low. They said it was the latest in the year they’ve seen in years.

Grand Tetons was foggy and it snowed heavily on the way there

then raining every day after πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Bronco did great. 4700 miles with a 19.5 mpg average

Sounds like an epic trip! Sorry the weather wasn't more pleasant for y'all. But, sounds like it was a good experience and the gas mileage was a plus. Your daughter did well on the assist! Lol

took me about 3 hours to dig it out...LOL But the ride was worth it.... Middle of fricking no where following hunting trails....

Yes there is a fence there for range cattle and not a damn thing to hook the winch to. The mud was so thick it would stick to the shovel and the only way to get it off was to scrape it.... Went faster digging with my hands.

Mind you this was water crossing number 9.... first 8 were no issue... the following 10 were no issue either but I got out and checked each one before attempting to cross, the second 10 obviously.... LOL...

I went from OKC to Southern IN, so I feel your frustration. If you feel froggy, plan a trip to the Badlands in West Central IN, or further down to East KY. I'll ride with ya! The DBBB is a great adventure area. There are several folks on these threads from the KY/TN area as well.

Picked up a Rockworx transformer shovel lol. Since they had the 15% off sale this weekend.

When I went out on an "easy" trail, a person walking on the main trail had gotten stuck on a side trail. Went back to get him and got stuck in that wonderful Florida Black Sand....Had to dig out a little and all we had was a small E-Tool. Got out, continued, and got the guy out.

A lesson learned....no matter how "Easy" its suposed to be, bring all your tools.
Luckily, I did have my recovery bag, but I had never really brought a shovel because I did not have a fold-up one. Well, yeah, now I will have one.

I managed to fix my stuck driver side mirror motor without having to buy a new one. πŸŽ‰

I temporarily tried the Wolfbox curved side mirror, but when I put my OEM mirror back on, I pressed to hard off-center. The motor over-extended upwards and got jammed.

Lucky the motor is a replaceable part (CU5Z-17D696-A) but still costs $65-80. I didn’t see any way to open up the motor mechanism and figured I will have to buy a new one.

Then I noticed the motor has this ball&socket design, with finger tabs that ride over the hemispherical bowl surface.
Ford Bronco What did you do TO / WITH your Bronco today? πŸ‘¨πŸ»β€πŸ”§πŸ§°πŸšΏπŸ›  1779745186474-vu

When it got over extended, a couple of the finger tabs went past the edge of the bowl and were caught.
Ford Bronco What did you do TO / WITH your Bronco today? πŸ‘¨πŸ»β€πŸ”§πŸ§°πŸšΏπŸ›  IMG_0962

I tried to pull the tabs away from the edge, but they just snapped off since it’s hard plastic. But still that fixed the issue. I could move the motor back to normal position and everything works fine now. Saved $65.

So my lesson is: if you change mirrors, only press at the center, and if it jams, check the finger tabs on the motor. I was gonna post a thread about it so anyone else who has this problem can find it, but I’ll just post here. Search sucks anyway. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I made some prototype short mud flaps for the rear to keep the mud from covering the taillights.
