I’m currently on my third Wrangler 392 and have pretty much always been loyal to Jeep (9 total). I’ve owned two Fords, both Raptors (‘14 & ‘17). I enjoyed both trucks but always went back to Jeep. Those days are done! I’ve been eying a Bronco for a while but wasn’t happy with the 2.7L @330 hp. That’s a pretty big drop from 470. I’ve looked at BRaptors but I just can’t get over those rear fender flares. Well Ford went ahead and slapped a Raptor motor in a ‘regular’ Bronco…SOLD! I know a lot of folks think they’re over the top but it’s exactly what I’m looking for. I give Ford a lot of credit for winning me back. I only wish they were putting the same motor in the RTR. It’s great to be back on the 6G forum 👍

It isnt known (at least Ihavent seen it in writing) that the Filson will have the same horsepower as the Raptor version. Its aimed at a different market.

Word on the street has it that the Filson version will have a ‘retuned’ motor to ensure a very smooth and gradual power delivery so the driver will not spill his oatmilk latte onto his tropical poplin cargo shorts (Only $169).

Ford should have put the 3.0 in the 4 door Stroppe instead of into an over the top luxury model.
Should have just made it an option, period, if you aren't going to keep it Braptor-exclusive.

Recently a Ford “insider” said that’s exactly what Ford is doing - the options starting in ‘28 will be the 2.3 and the 3.0.

I can't figure out why the Filson comes standard with the SAS package. The people that are interested in the luxury features that set the Filson apart, are not the same people that would be interested in doing the serious off-roading that the SAS package is about. Ford is adding an expensive feature that will never be used.

Because it’s a neo-lifestyle purchase not necessarily function specific. This has been an ever growing trend of marketing anymore, exploded by Covid. Everyone buys into the “freedom of offroad” just because it’s cool not because they actually do it. The Raptor line is a big part of that too. 80% of the customer bases don’t offroad their vehicles. When I sat in a marketing survey for GM they had the same conclusion based on customer data. They do it because people think it’s cool, that’s about it. If one or two Filson owners hit the trails it doesn’t matter. I’m just glad they’re finally doing cooled seats. That’s been my biggest gripe.

That means they're killing off the two-door. All hail the 2028 Ford Flex!

Because people who buy this kind of vehicle can’t stand missing out on any option - no matter how useful it may or may not be to them

Must have every Hero button…

@Bart i disagree. The people currently on retirement, along with others who have no trouble spending will flock to this model AND use it off road. I have seen many older people in Moab taking their Braptors on difficult trails. I’m also interested in both the FILSON and the proposed Lincoln Bronco and would take them on difficult terrain, just like I have with my Braptor. Maybe not Pritchett but for sure Hells, Imogene and Poison Spider.

That’s pretty much what Ford said…the 3.0 will definitely be detuned a bit, but I suspect the hp will range from 370-385. That shouldn’t be too noticeable considering the Filson will weigh approximately 1,000 lbs less than the Braptor.

It always cracks me up when people get bent out of shape about vehicles like this. A lot of us are casual off-roaders, including myself. I love the bells & whistles, the color matched flares, the SAS package and especially the 3.0. I sure don’t rag on folks that like trucks without all the extras. I just find it funny that people feel the need to poke fun. Whatever.

I would love to see a G wagon, late model Range Rover, 911 Dakar or that off road Lamborghini that I can’t spell the name of in Moab or Ouray! I have to say, Braptors and Jeep 392’s are some of the most expensive stock rigs I see out on trails.
