I had my first opportunity to sleep in my Bronco this past weekend and it was fantastic! I used my REI camp mattress and my sleeping bag and it worked well with plenty of room. Much easier than setting up my tent.

For ventilation, I raided my wife's craft closet and took some toole (sp?) to cover the small opening of the window that I cracked open. It worked fine. Not many bugs left in the northeast in October.

Thinking about purchasing a sleeping platform for my next adventure and I'm curious to hear about others' experiences with the three platforms I'm thinking about:

https://pacificadventureworks.com/
https://heleoutdoors.com
https://nokhugear.com

I like the idea of being able to use the platform as a shelf when not using it as a sleeping platform plus being able to store gear and stuff under the platform while camping. I'm not a small guy, 5'11" ~ 215 lbs. Any thoughts or recommendations are welcomed! Thank you.

I added a refrigerator slide on the left side with a flat platform attached to it making it level with the rear seat when it’s folded down. I then put a pad and sleeping bag over the platform and the folded down rear seat. This also kept the platform low enough that I could still sleep on it with my body underneath the storage shelf. It’s not as comfortable as a bed of course, but it work. I also added another refrigerator slide and platform on the right for the refrigerator.

I did a write up on the Hele box last year if that's of interest: https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/hele-box-sleeping-platform-review.97158/

After significantly over-researching for a rack for storage and camping in the back of my Bronco, I chose the Nokhu half rack.
I reached out to both Hele and Nokhu (the pacific rack was too expensive for a comparable product so I crossed that off my list). The CEO of Hele responded very quickly (on Thanksgiving, no less) and told me that the Hele Box could only extend to 66” to fit properly in a Bronco. I liked the Hele better, but I’m almost 6’ and thought the Hele platform would be too short for me. I know someone posted a review of the Hele Box and seemed pleased, but I took the founder’s word that it doesn’t quite fit how I need it to (unfortunately).

So, I bought the Nokhu half rack. It fits well. I have it in the back condensed for now (see photo). Seems well built and sturdy. The styrofoam packaging was a mess but everything else was fine.

hope this helps.

Are you able to fully extend the Nokhu half rack to the advertised 79" in the Bronco?

I have the “old” model which extends to 72”. The new model on their site claims 79”. Looks like some structural differences between the old and new models.

Did you remove the rear seats or just flip them?

Thanks for checking that. Seems like it would be pretty tight, even with the seat all the way forward and leaned forward.

No problem - the passenger seat wasn’t moved all the way up so there would be a little more space if I would have done that.

While not a platform bed, this will level the rear seats to the deck. It also has some small storage in the drawer.

Those are nice. I have slept in the back of the Bronco before, and I need every inch of space I can get. I have a custom platform in the back already and I will either modify that to get full length support or take it out to do the new model of the Nokhu platform.
