LOL You're right. I dunno what I was thinking this morning. I even posted back then that at least the motor is replaceable if I couldn’t fix it. That was only 2 months ago.

It's not that it only works for 26 Raptors, it's that they don't want to delay the sales of a more profitable halo model any more than necessary.

It's the same fix for all MY and trims. What's different is that they obviously don't want to spend all that money to fix all of the Broncos out there, and take a big warranty spend hit before the start of the next quarter. It's about the benjamins, and financial reports, and stockholders...not customers silly!

And for those who're wondering why they can't take delivery after signing and get the dealership to 'fudge' it.....there's a database that this is all tied into that won't let the sale go through even if the dealership wanted to 'fudge' it a bit.

The thing that will move the process along is dealer principles complaining up the chain in order to get approval for vehicles under contract to get fixed. They did that recently with another stop sale recall and after making enough noise they got the ball moving.

I know there is no *fix* for this yet, but something preventative that I did in the mean time is using some "door edge guards" to cut down on any possible chaffing.

I literally scoured under the hood of my truck for over 30 minutes yesterday.

Surprisingly, everything looked very good. To be sure, however, since I had a good bit of thin velcro wrap available and a couple of plastic zip ties, I made extra space in about 3 places just to get more separation from any potential metal and/or hot surfaces.

My truck has a late August '25 production date ... so I don't know if Ford was catching on to an issue by then or if the particular model/trim line had differences .... or whether it just comes down to age and usage of the truck.

In summary, I was fairly impressed with how tidy and well wrapped all my wire bundles were.

I'll just wait until I get my official letter saying they have the remedy in hand (which could be just a simple inspection, in my case, maybe?) before I bother to schedule any appointment. I was just at the dealer in 17 July for routine service and the inspection of the seat bolt recall notice. .... and, of course, this latest recall pops just a few days later. 🫩

It's weird how Ford gets so much publicity on recalls, when other automakers have just as many problems, but it's all hush hush. Honda v6's have rod bearing failures, absolute turd a/c systems, leaky head gaskets, Kia engines are made of paper mache, Jeep has two potential fire risks.

to be fair.....Ford is deserving of the bad press. They had triple the recalls compared to the next OEM in 25 and lead the pack again this year.

Does that account for fleet size? Or is this number of total campaigns per automaker? I haven't done any research on the matter aside from my own experience.

Edit: Ok yeah they had triple the amount that Chrysler had in 25. Weird that some of the recalls were similar across the board. I'm comparing some of these with Honda recalls, since I fix those for a living. Bad rod bearings, bad software preventing rear camera display, steering gear assembled incorrectly, few examples. Big list regardless.

I guess, from a reliability standpoint, Id take a handful of recalls with a reliable engine and an AC system that doesn't self destruct. Maybe the issues we see are due to the adverse conditions here in the southwest. I don't know for sure.

They offered to unwind it or write me a check for the payments until I get it. They were cool about it. I was just bummed I couldn’t take it home. They were also under the assumption that the fix was going to be announced yesterday.

We (those with open deals) “might” be SOL until end of September-Early October…that is the ETD that the GM gave me…could be under promising and hoping to over deliver, but either way…really wish I would’ve put lipstick on before I inked the deal.

The fix is the same for everybody. Inspection of harnesses, repair as necessary, then addition of convoluted tubing and coroplast tape to wrap it all up. Nobody is going to get away with 'just a simple inspection'. What they're going to do is called out in the tech notes I attached. No guesswork required.

Thanks. I think I missed this info released initially last Thursday. Three notes, however ...

1. Looks like dealers can sell used vehicles, then those owners would just get in in line like the rest of us for repairs.

2. "No letter required" could imply a feeding frenzy when the gates open up in September for owners of all but MY26 Raptors.

3. While the intended repairs look comprehensive, some of the materials to be used look less robust than the few areas I fixed myself already. Plastic shielding becomes hard, brittle over time. I prefer the flexible velcro wrap I used in a couple specific areas. Will be interesting to see how they view my few corrections (e.g., removed/replaced or covered over), and I will will definitely be re-inspecting their completed efforts for sufficiency.

I'm in no rush, as I'll be traveling half of September and I believe my wire bundles look pretty good already, so I'll wait for my letter and get things addressed before the EOY.

About two years ago, and after owning my Bronco for two months, I scored Ford Performance pillar lights on EBay.
While installing them, I found that the antifreeze overflow container was completely empty and there was dried antifreeze on the bottom.
I removed the container and clean it.
I noticed that there was a large wire bundle which was improperly wrapped with exposed wires, it was also tightly fixed to the sharp edge of the front fender right next the the antifreeze container.
Knowing how flammable antifreeze can be under the right conditions, I was concerned about the wires wearing away and causing a short, maybe even a fire.
So, I removed that bundle of wires, wrapped them, then put a one inch wire loom around it and wrapped the whole arrangement in one inch electrical tape. And properly spaced it away from that sharpe edge.
Now I’m wondering if this is the location of the possible engine fire problem..

Reiterating to check the wiring going to passenger mirror near hood hinge. 2023 Base 2.7L. You won’t see this with the hood in the static up position. I noticed potential movement, rubbing, and pinching when closing the hood. This is my temporary fix while I wait in line. Lady at the deli counter says I’m number 425,618.
