Recall 26S55: 2021-2026 Bronco - Engine Compartment Wiring Harness Repair [July 23, 2026] -- 590,000k units affected

About two years ago, and after owning my Bronco for two months, I scored Ford Performance pillar lights on EBay.
While installing them, I found that the antifreeze overflow container was completely empty and there was dried antifreeze on the bottom.
I removed the container and clean it.
I noticed that there was a large wire bundle which was improperly wrapped with exposed wires, it was also tightly fixed to the sharp edge of the front fender right next the the antifreeze container.
Knowing how flammable antifreeze can be under the right conditions, I was concerned about the wires wearing away and causing a short, maybe even a fire.
So, I removed that bundle of wires, wrapped them, then put a one inch wire loom around it and wrapped the whole arrangement in one inch electrical tape. And properly spaced it away from that sharpe edge.
Now I’m wondering if this is the location of the possible engine fire problem..

I agree with that location for the wire harness issue. If it isn’t now it will be in the future. I cut the harness clip out all together, wrapped it with Coroplast tape and slid a piece of convolute tubing over it. I also put a piece of heavy plastic straw from inside of a spray bottle that I slit and placed it over the sharp edge. Tie wrapped it all through the harness clip hole.

I finally told my wife about this recall. She sputtered in response and then had a good laugh, since she's aware of the past recalls on just our '25. Next she asked about a lemon law remedy or a class-action suit!

That’s insanely annoying… My Bronco was (most likely) totaled and I was hoping to be able to find a leftover 25 for a good price. Not waiting until September though.

This happened to us last year. Ours was totaled and we wanted a '24 with the V6 (2-door) but they couldn't sell them due to a recall so we got a '25 with the 2.3 (Ford dropped the V6 in 2-doors in '25).

Well, thanks. Great. Now I'm going to have to pull my overflow container and look in there. >mutters<. I was perfectly fine going to bed at night completely oblivious to this factoid.

from the pictures posted it appears the wire concern is closer towards the firewall. Any speculation/confirmation there are issues around the air filter box? Curious about those with aftermarket intakes, some are harder to remove than others and some dealers may not remove non factory parts.

I think it is; My build was scheduled for a September delivery, then it slipped to October, and now it’s pushed back again to November.

There used to be a guy who would post scheduling info here every week - now I think you'll have to go to FordVideoGuy's YouTube page. Either way you can check if your vehicle is against scheduling constraints.
Compare your options to any balance-out or limited availability packages.
I was never delayed, per se, but my scheduling took a long time as they were not scheduling for my build at all for a month or so.

I think it is; My build was scheduled for a September delivery, then it slipped to October, and now it’s pushed back again to November.

It only affected regular broncos with a build date up to 12/2025 and bronco raptors up to 6/2026. Meaning all built since then are unaffected.

Build dates are regularly pushed back for a large number of other reasons, but I doubt it’s because of this specific recall.

Cal Worthington had dealerships all over California and Arizona as well.

I was a finance guy at his main store, the bellflower/long Beach dealership, for years in the 90's.

And

I'll do the loom wraps as I search heartily/find them. Me going in for the recall might be years from now when it all calms down. As soon as they start doing the recall we'll know the very day what needs done...and the handy folk will get it done.
No stress for those of us who can do things.

At cal's; we might have handled this delivery problem by registering the sale as new, unwinding that sale without delivery, then rewinding it to you as used...or maybe we wouldn't. Ask your dealer.

There are used Broncos nationwide with 45 or 100 or 300 miles on them.
They're deliverable.
My used bronco had 45 miles on it.
Dealers do what needs done to roll cars.

How does it work with Demo`s? If there is a stop sale surely I shouldn't have been able to take the vehicle for a test drive and start the deal if the dealer knew they couldn't legally sell/demo it?

It may have been in their loaner fleet. I bought my new ‘24 that had been put into the dealer’s loaner fleet the week before the Bilstein recall stop sale was put in place. The fact that they weren’t going to be able to sell a lot of the Broncos on the lot for a few months worked really well in my favor when it came to negotiating a price

Great job. You may have gotten really lucky, as supply and demand usually works the other way around. e.g., highly limited supply, higher demand for those scarcer resources, higher price.

Yeah for sure but I had a few things tilting it in my favor - it was a ‘24 and I bought it in May of ‘25 plus it it’s a 2 door

I have a deal pending right now because of this. Was supposed to take delivery Tuesday , that turned into thursday, Then Today. Just got a call the fix might not be ready until september.

I am in the same boat. hella deal on a 25 Badlands SAS but the stop sale means I can't take delivery until it's repaired. My question is do I finish the financing and down payment, so that I am officially the owner, or just leave my deposit and see if that motivates them to actually fix is as soon as the fix becomes available in hopes to conclude the sale. Someone else mentioned they'd have to fix customer cars first. I know I can complete the sale, the manager confirmed it yesterday. Just can't take delivery. I can wait, it's not my primary vehicle, but trying to figure out what will motivate them to fix it as quickly as they can.

Same conundrum I find myself in. Waiting to hear back from the dealership if they will hold the rebates and trade in until it can be fixed. I told them this has to benefit me if they want the deal to remain intact. I already have my down payment to them and the check has cleared.
