This is just my opinion, not looking to bash a soul, but I remember when you went to the Dream Cruise when it first started and it was classic and antique cars. Just because you own a modern classic name plate. Ex. Mustang, Charger, Bronco does not mean you have a classic car. I use to drive my 65 Mustang on Woodward and it was awesome being with cars and trucks from the 40,50 and 60s all tooling along together. Now most of the cars out there are just cars. Todays Mustangs and Broncos are and in my opinion will never be a Classic, even though at some point they will hit the definition of at least 20 years old. Again just my opinion.

My First time, but there are parks and areas off the street that seem to have more of the older Classic and Muscle cars. The street was a mashup of anything goes, Model T to WTF is that type stuff.

That is a pretty common sentiment in the metro Detroit area, and causes older guys like me to change my approach to the event. The Dream Cruise website states the following:

"Did you know that the Woodward Dream Cruise began as a fundraiser to raise money to build a soccer field in Ferndale, Michigan?

In August 1995, Mr. Nelson House and a group of local volunteers looked to relive and recreate the nostalgic heydays of the ’50s and ’60s, when youth, rock’n roll and Motor City steel roamed the historic Woodward Avenue, America’s first highway. That year, nearly 250,000 people participated—ten times the number expected. The rest, as they say, is history.

Since then, the Woodward Dream Cruise has grown to become North America’s largest one-day automotive event, drawing nearly one million people and 40,000 classic cars annually from around the globe—from as far away as Australia. Cruisers from all across North America caravan to Metro Detroit to participate in what has become, for many, an annual rite of summer."

The owners of those 50s and 60s cars are aging out, so the younger enthusiasts are showing their version of a classic (80s, 90s, etc). I avoid Dream Cruise Saturday, and go on Friday during the day. I missed the Bronco display (I was only there until 12:30pm), so thank you to the OP for sharing their pics!

I had the literal same words pop into my head when I saw the Willys. lol
The Pygmy was designed by Ford. Willys only did the engine for the government, the bodies were a Ford design. The one displayed is one of the last examples of the pre-production units.

Yeah, I get it, but quite honestly, I'm of the opinion if you can get people to celebrate the automobile, regardless of whether it's a true classic or a more modern muscle car is a good thing. Maybe I feel that way because I don't have a "true" classic as my CTS-V and Roush Mustang are 14 and 10 years old respectively.

I used to go every year and make the loop, up until about seven years ago. The problem is that as I've gotten older, I have just become less willing to deal with the craziness down there. I spoke to someone who saw a late model Mercedes AMG coupe lose control, jump the median (surely doing some expensive damage) and just missing by about a foot of hitting a '70s Dodge Superbird, a call whose value is close, if not seven digits.

Doing burnouts at the light is one thing, although the cops seem to have gotten more and more intolerant of that stuff, the issue is more that these people try and do stuff and often just lose control and take out others with them.

A co-worker said he saw a kid who couldn't have been older than 17 or 18 driving a C8 ZR1X down there. Obviously, dad's $250K toy.

Dealing with the crazy crowds and traffic is one thing, that's to be expected if you're going down there and I did it for many years. Having some idiot lose control of their vehicle while showing off and taking out my car is another.

The hell is this?

Bronco concept introduced in 2004.

This concept anticipated the Ford Bronco as we know it today

Edit: Reading that article, it seems like the concept was more of an intro to the Bronco Sport.

" Ford's prototype was equipped with an 'intelligent' four-wheel drive system. In practice, the car always delivers power to the front wheels, but if sensors recognise a loss of grip, they can automatically distribute torque to all four drive wheels."

That is AWESOME that Ford brought this. I thought for sure it must have been crushed by now.

Remember, this was a concept in 2004. Closer to the end of 5G production that the start of the 6G. It gave a glimmer of hope to us Bronco fans that the model would live again. It took us another 16 years plus two years of pandemic supply chain delays to finally get the next one.

Really glad this thing is still kicking around and brought out to events even if rarely.
