I recently bought a used 2024 Wildtrak 4dr. The previous owner threw on an aftermarket exhaust and I was curious on your thoughts about the quote I got. The shop told me it was going to be $1,666.34 for parts and labor. I plan on just selling the exhaust that's on there now to recoup some of the costs so it's not a real big deal, but I just want to make sure I'm not getting completely hosed.

I attached some pictures of the current setup.

You're getting THOROUGHLY hosed.
Sound, up or down, has ZERO value.
Add a silencer/resonator to what you already have if the sound is intolerable.
Got any suggestions? I'm new to all this so any extra info helps. It was fun at first with the sound but now it's just loud and annoying especially on the highways.

Ask the exhaust guy who quoted that price how much to splice in whatever he thinks is best to meet your needs.
He does 100+-a month, no one here has owned enough of them to make a logical, unbiased, not-limited experience, suggestion.

Some ideas to ponder.

You can look for the stock muffler and exhaust section used from a stock bronco matching yours to replace your aftermarket pieces. People take them off and sell them.

$1,600 seems high for a shop to put a quiet muffler back on the truck but at the same time you could sell the one on there to recoup some cost.

You can get another quote from a different muffler shop for a quieter muffler.

He should provide an itemized quote; share that. I'm wondering how much of that is the OEM muffler. $1700 is a lot to replace a custom muffler with a stock one but maybe he's including a lot of pipe/welding work? I dunno, definitely try to get it cheaper.

If you’re in any groups make a wanted post. That’s way too expensive for one, you might as well get a better aftermarket exhaust if your willing to pay that much.

The email said it was 3 hours labor, 180$ an hour. So 540 of that 1666 is labor

See, I dunno if that's a lot or not? That's basically an afternoon. Sounds like he's wanting to replace your whole exhaust to the cat. I don't know enough about paying for this kind've thing to say for sure, but that seems high to me. You might get a 2nd and 3rd (itemized) quote to compare.

That’s crazy. The AWE exhaust isn’t even worth $1400 brand new.

AWE is more the VW/Audi crowd anyways.

You’d be better off finding used, or if it’s drone you’re after eliminating, a vibrant resonator is worth it. You might get $500 for that AWE exhaust. It’s good quality, but it’s like the MBRP stuff. Too loud.

But yea, I’ve had shops whip out a whole regular steel exhaust on my trucks in an hour from the headers back. 3 hours either it’s instagram level art out of true 303, or you’re getting pulled over coals.

It looks like he needs the stock intermediate pipe and muffler/tailpipe. If you buy new Ford Oem stuff it will be pricey so I would check FB Marketplace but make sure you get both pieces.
