I think it's around 6-7" drop. The ProComp wheels are -6 offset so the spare sticks out another 1-1/4" compared to the stock Sas wheels/tires so it definitely needed a drop to clear the spare with the trailer latch in the up position. The trailer actually looks pretty level with that drop.
I have the 2.7 with automatic and with the Sas gearing it tows easily. I have a 10 minute drive to the river and all the roads are 45 mph or less so I haven't had a chance to get it on the highway. My boat is 16' so it's not that heavy, maybe 750-800 lbs for the boat, motor and trailer.
Yeah, I was referring more to the plug in boxes like JB4, Superchips, etc. I would hope a full blown custom tune changes the trans shifting. Does the Whipple modify the shifts with the automatic?
I think the ProCal is the only tune that modifies the auto transmission shifting and that's a big selling point of that tune. It sounds like most of the other tunes will net more power, but the improved shifting trumps that.
It's been a couple of months since I did the elbow mod and so far no issues. I was driving through a neighborhood slowly yesterday (around 15-18 mph) and for the first time I noticed I could hear a slight whirling type noise and I'm guessing it's the passenger side turbo. That factory elbow...
Don't worry about mpg until after 1000 miles of break in. Winter gas definitely knocks down mpg in the 1-2 mpg range. OP, are you calculating actual mpg based on miles and gallons of gas put in or are you looking at the computer's mpg estimate? I went with heavier tires on my base Sas 2.7...
I think I have a 5-6" drop bar so the trailer tongue ends up just about under the spare. You might be able to flip that jack handle to the other side of the post but if not, you might want to look into another brand that mounts the handle to the side. I just bought an 8" extension for mounting...
I don't know if you want to go -18 or more, that's a lot of poke. I have some Pro Comp 17x9 with -6 and would have preferred 0 offset but they didn't offer 0 in my particular wheel.
It might work and it might not, I'm not sure anyone knows what is really causing the noise. It seems to be heat related as I didn't get the noise on short drives but when I did some 10+ minute drives I started to hear it. It's free to try and massage the boot so I figured why not give it a try.
I just moved it forward and backward as much as possible. I tried to straighten out the pleats one by one as I moved it back and forth to allow any potential grease buildup to be moved around.
I still haven't had the noise come back after massaging the boot several times. That makes me think it's an issue with the grease up inside the boot and maybe that's why new driveshafts can have the problem as well. Mine started around 3-400 miles and I'm now at 3200 miles with no noise the...
I put them on my base Sas and they fit fine with the hoop steps. When I added the Pro Comp wheels, they rubbed the flaps due to the -6 offset so I had to grind down some of the inside edge for clearance.
I haven't noticed a need for the rear flaps, the fronts are a no brainer. Even with 17x9 -6 offset wheels the rear body stays clean but the bumper ends get dirty, no big deal.
Here's my old 4Runner with the old Kayline soft top that folded all the way down. I think the Bronco 2 door rollbar is the biggest obstable to getting a squared back top to fold down all the way. I do not want a top that sits folded up on the rollbar. I think at some point, somebody is going...
I'm used to my previous trucks getting 14-16 mpg with 33 to 35" tires so the Bronco is actually ahead of what I expected. I may have picked the wrong time to try out 93 octane with the price of gas about to go up due to shortages again.
Sure looks like the pictures from Method do not show the correct shade of the wheel so they should own up to that. The vendor shouldn't really be held accountable for Method's poor representation of the item, I think that is why they would like the review removed. If the review is about the...
So today I had to make a few stops and when I first started the truck it was at 17.9 so it lost .3 mpg overnight. It dropped to 17.6 during the first couple of miles while cold, then worked it's way back up to 19 mpg by the end of my stops. I'll check it again in the morning to see if it drops...
