Ranger sales are paltry compared to F-150 and Maverick sales, and now with the Fathom being introduced as another compact pickup, it wouldn't shock me if Ford axes the Ranger and builds a Bronco pickup to replace it, being that they can sell a Bronco pickup for probably 20% more than an equivalent Ranger.
For people who want a Ranger sized pickup the Bronco would be a POOR substitute.

Just like the Gladiator a Bronco pickup would be a very niche vehicle

Not a particularly saleable idea then..
Why now?

Disney movie live-action reboot.
Totally out of new ideas.

Grant and tax break scheme to get their truck section under a certain mpg?
Thats not a Sport. Its a Sport Trac. And yes true, not enough sales to support either of them. I do believe a Bronco Gladiator would sell, especially with all the hype of the Bronco. No on 4 door Mustang. "Mustang" Mach E should never have had the name Mustang in it.. Maybe they could name 4 door Mustang, the Ford Mustang III Probe GT... Who at Ford comes up with these names (Escape, Taurus, Pinto, Aspire, Freestyle etc...)

Now this is a 31 year old Sport:

If they would've just brought the 7th Gen Falcon here, we could've had the 8th Gen by now which was basically a four door Mustang already. No need for reinventing the wheel. Not a bad idea, just don't call it a Mustang to avoid brand diluting. Making it the same platform and engines is a great idea, just have some separation in naming.

Mustang - 2door.
Falcon - 4door.
Why is this so hard Ford?

But I also said the same thing about the "mach-e" where you have a nameplate not in use with "Thunder" in the name conveying an EV aspect without having to state this is an EV AND all you are doing is making the Mustang nameplate feel cheap offering a BEV SUV called Mustang.

IMO the electric SUV should've been called a Thunderbird since Ford isn't doing anything with that name anyway. Lightning for the BEV F150 was pretty smart, then they went full idiot and created "Mustang Mach-E" because you know, E for Electric...

I keep hearing how bad Gladiator sales are but in my neck of the woods down east NC they're everywhere. I see more of them on the roads around home than I do wranglers. I rented a gladiator for a couple months while my Wildtrak was in the body shop. It reminded me why I got rid of my previous wranglers for a bronco.

In a four-door configuration, you're surely right! But how about a two-door? Which figures to roughly is the same size as a (proper) vintage 1967 Ford Ranger, Chevy C10, etc? I think it would be huge seller! And for sure it would be a looker. Put in the V8 Coyote and the 5-speed manual, and I'd be on it like Oprah on a rib roast.

Right! "Uncle Tony" on YouTube made a similar argument in the context of Stellantis and Dodge.

Interesting... '67 Ranger?

I Googled it and the 1967 Ranger was a full size pick up with the "Ranger" name for a high-end luxury trim package for the full sized F-100 and F-250.

I learned something new today, or completely forgot about seeing the "Ranger" badges on the old F-100's bed.

Well, while we're looking up some stuff;
There was a Chevy s10 dakota...
(This trivia happily supplied as a way to win a beer-bet in almost any bar)

And
Heavy half ton 6(maybe 8, it was/a/long time ago) lug Chevy trucks.

I wanted a mikado truck(with the triple 3 inch chrome roll bar and dealer/factory kc lights with the flammable covers)as a towed for the motorhome but bought the stroppe instead.

Yes! Originally it was a gussied-up version of the F-100. The door panels were nicer, it had carpet and generally a clock and radio. I first learned to drive with Dad's Ranger, with the three-on-the-tree.

That's all we need: another four-door pickup like the Gladiator. I say that because you KNOW Ford will not do a proper Bronco pickup in a two-door, manual transmission configuration. After all, it's clear they are 4D/AT crazy.
My guess, Ford will not want to reconfigure the roll cage in a two-door variant like they will have to do for this "version" of the 4 door. Simply a math addition problem. Way more of those will sell as a 4dr than 2dr pickups just like more 4dr G6's are sold than 2dr G6's. Not worthy of the effort.

Not going to lie, would love to see that concept on a 2dr Bronco.
