The issue will be the removal process when it does fail. The sun will eventually break it down. And I cant imagine what the steps would be to remove it and/or the damage it will cause to the hard top during the process.

A lower profile car tire will only make the ride even more stiff. If the ride is too harsh for you then you would need ultra cushion seats, custom air ride suspension, or larger tires aired down around 20-25psi to change the harsh ride for you. They always have a bronco sport.
