  1. Anyone have a cool altimeter mounted in their Bronco?

I'm old-fashioned. I still prefer using a dedicated Garmin GPS unit for my main navigation display instead of Google Maps over Android Auto. One of the advantages is that the Garmin UI is a lot more customizable, and includes the option to always show elevation, which I love.
  2. Ford Navigation, built in

Buy a Garmin. The 6-inch model fits pretty nicely on the Bronco's dash and frees up your main screen for other uses. True, people will laugh at you for being a geezer, like they laugh at me. But those Garmins still work really well: They have a UI that IMO is more useful than Google's (though...
  3. Lobo HNT Hidden Winch Skid Plate and Openroad 13500 winch installation, pictures, and review

That sounds like a good idea. Is it just something you mount in the engine bay to shine down on the winch, or what?
  4. Lobo HNT Hidden Winch Skid Plate and Openroad 13500 winch installation, pictures, and review

Yeah, that does look like a very cool option. Unfortunately, I don't think I can change the fairlead without dropping the whole skid plate/winch assembly (see my #1 concern in the OP), so probably not worth it for me at this point.
  5. Lobo HNT Hidden Winch Skid Plate and Openroad 13500 winch installation, pictures, and review

I don't think so. The slot is in the horizontal (i.e., overhang) part of the skid plate, with the intercooler sitting pretty much directly on top of it, so I don't see how it could be helping with the airflow.
  6. Lobo HNT Hidden Winch Skid Plate and Openroad 13500 winch installation, pictures, and review

I just finished installing the @Lobo Off-Road HNT Hidden Winch Skid Plate and Openroad 13500 winch on my 2-door 2.3L Badlands with Capable steel bumper and 3-inch lift. Here's what it looks like: (Note: I'm still weighing hook options. I've never owned a winch before, so I don't really know...
  7. Is Anyone Labeling Their Aux Switches?

I finally got around to making my own labels today. Time will tell if the adhesive lasts or not, but so far I'm very pleased with the result. Details: I used an Epson LW-PX300 thermal-transfer label maker and white-on-matte-black polyester label tape. The symbol selection for this label maker...
  8. Why 4A is your Ford's friend

I know what you mean, but I'm going to be the physics nitpicker and correct your terminology. An open differential splits torque 50-50. It does NOT let most of the torque go to the slipping wheel. Rather, it lets all of the SPEED go to the slipping wheel. And since it doesn't take much torque...
  9. Mounting individual off-road lights (not bar) to roof accessory points

No, I gave up on the idea. Would love to see how yours turn out if you end up doing it, though.
  10. Sharp turn makes my blinker go to the other direction. Anyone else?

It definitely happens on my '23 Badlands. Not always, or even repeatably as far as I can tell, but enough that I got annoyed with it and went searching through the forums to see if it was a common problem, which is how I found this thread.
  11. Bug shield hood deflector.

I have one, as I figured it was worth it just to protect the leading edge of the hood from rock chips. I don't think it does much for bug splatter when driving at highway speed, though. I still get TONS of that, noticeably more than on any other vehicle I've ever owned. I suppose it MIGHT keep...
  12. Reverse lights (cube) location ideas

Just got mine installed today. Drilled some holes in the spare tire carrier and bolted in some Diode Dynamics SSc1's from 4x4TruckLeds. Very pleased with how it turned out. Much brighter than stock reverse lights, and I think it's a pretty clean, unobtrusive look with my non-sas Badlands wheels.
  13. Glitchy/buggy Android Auto

I've noticed when it becomes unresponsive I can sometimes unfreeze it by toggling it in and out of fullscreen mode. (Not sure whether that points to it being Ford's bug or Google's.)
  14. Mounting individual off-road lights (not bar) to roof accessory points

Thanks for that reply, you make some very good points. I'm still thinking there might be SOME advantages to just a pair of lights on the roof vs. a whole bar, mainly less wind resistance and associated potential for whistling or other noise. But I'll probably have to give up on the idea unless I...
  15. Mounting individual off-road lights (not bar) to roof accessory points

I'm considering mounting just single a pair of off-road lights (like Diode Dynamics SS3) to the roof accessory mount points. I see lots of kits available to mount a whole light bar between these points, but none for mounting just an individual light to each point. Has anyone made a bracket for...
  16. ICONIC SILVER Bronco Club

    Goat mode engaged. :)
  17. Rear Too Stiff

Thanks for the update. I may have to try this. I have a 2-door non-squatch Badlands, and compared to my other vehicle (Jeep Grand Cherokee), the FAR harsher ride of the Bronco over bumps in the road is my only major complaint with it.
  18. Where do I drill

If you want to see what you're doing before you drill, I'd suggest unscrewing the accessory mount panel and prying out the hero switch panel. You'll then be able to shine a flashlight under the tray you're drilling into to verify you aren't going to hit anything.
  19. ICONIC SILVER Bronco Club

I've had mine for just over a week now. Only fairly subtle customizations so far, including replacing the fender badges with a small mountain graphic and some pinstripes.
  20. Okay, this is something I might actually cancel over

The only thing that surprises me about this horrible idea is that Google didn't think of it first.
