This is my setup Yeasu FTM-500. Big pluses, remote head with an integrated speaker. Dual receiver, 2M and 440. Bulket Point mounting system. Very happy with it. It all comes down to how much you want to spend.
Born and raised Floridian here, and driving in sugar sand is not hard. Wider tires are better, and tire hieght helps if the sand is rusted. I'm running true 35x12.5's and I never air down, running 36 PSI, or use my lockers in the sand. But airing down is key is you have narrower tires. The...
Ford documentation claims it's OK. My engineering education, and 40+ years experience working with electricity make me say I won't do it. I'm running two old school KC halogen Daylighters with switch 1, and the switch is running minimal current to trigger a relay.
Mine is a knock off jack, but I did use the High Lift mount. A little modification work was required. As others have said you will need to have good points to use on the Bronco. One of the jack mods was a good grade hook woth safety latch.
You've got another issue, a ground plain, or lack of, wouldn't cause that big of an issue to VSWR. I've never worked that particular antenna, but most good antennas these days will be below 2 out of the box. I'd check you connectors and cables. Somethings amiss.
PITA is an understatement. LMAO. Installed my about 1-1/2 years ago, with the assistance of my Ford Master Tech son. My biggest bits of advice. Measure the 110mm bolts before you start. Mine were too short, and we had to run around town to get long enough bolts. A Harbor Frieght Ikon flex head...
No issues with switching from 315"s to 35's. Slight speed delta, but minor. You see a minor milage decrease. All these are typical with the tire change. In Florida I appreciate the added flotation in sugar sand with the wider tire.
Here's a video of mine. I just happened to have my hand on the refrigerant line at the front of the engine bay while videoing so I felt it in the line. Started the engine, ran the AC for a few minutes then turned it off and the noise was gone. I've never seen this with 134 or 12 systems, so it...
I had the same thing on a hot day here in Florida while washing my Bronco. Traced it to the AC system. Seems to be the pressure bleeding through the expansion valve as the ambient heat expands the refrigerant.
