Glad everyone is OK. Too bad about your Bronco -- even if not totaled it will never be the same.
I'm told that NOT bracing for an accident actually leads to fewer injuries -- I hope that's the case for your wife.
Thanks for the notes everyone. I didn't know they made DIY bedliner and textured rattle can paint. Will take them off here in the next weekend or two and get them patched up.
I just got back from a 1500 mile road trip where I noted significantly increased oil consumption. About 550 miles out at 75-85 mph, 400 miles tooling around the park, and 550 miles of high speed back.
Somehow, on both legs of the journey in and out I had a pretty stiff head wind. About 30-40mph...
I have a '24 Badlands 7MT (non-SAS), and a '13 Mustang GT.
My priority was the 7MT, not performance. I get my jollies in the much, much higher performance Mustang/Coyote.
That said, I run 91/3 and will be getting the Ford Performance Tune, because the 2.3l is fine, but I am a bit spoiled...
What is this "selector in D" thing? Is that some fancy schmancy new fangled transmission? If I don't want to go into a high gear, I just don't..
(serious reply: my F-150 has this feature and it works just fine. Useful when towing or driving in the mountains to keep the transmission from jumping...
'24 with 10k. Just got my first chip on a trip to Yellowstone. After lots of rock chip issues in cars, I am very cautious about follow distance (though more importantly to not die in a wreck) but I got a chip while passing a semi in wet/windy conditions on I-80.
Luckily it's low in front of the...
So I got a badge of honor by dinging up my bash plates a bit in Moab. The front and the under engine plates.
I did remove the powder coat so I'd like to do something to prevent rust issues. What's my best option for a DIY solution?
I have a 2DR Badlands with the 2.3L and a manual. I run 91/93 octane with stock tune in normal mode.
The primary cause of low MPG in the bronco is that it's a rolling brick, and gas uses goes up exponentially with speed.
If I keep it under 50mph, I get about 26-28mpg
At around 65, I get 24

Well, if you hire a contractor to do the work, of course you aren't going to get much or any benefit because the contractor is going to charge the premium. But, doing the work yourself will generally benefit you a great deal.
Well, the reason to keep my K02s (vs new 33s) is they only have 8,000 miles on them, hah. If I were ready to put the money into a lift, I'd go 35s/new wheels but not ready to put that kind of money down.
Thanks for your thoughts though!
This is absolutely something you should have handled under warranty. That weld is abysmal. I've never welded, and yet I am sure I could do a better weld than that.
So, I am a big fan of custom wheels on my vehicles. I generally dislike the rather bland wheels OEs use, and my Bronco is no exception.
Right now I have the stock 2024 Badlands wheels/33" tires. Someday in the nearish future (a couple years) I will probably want to upgrade to 35" tires AND have...
If you have to put it on credit, no it would be silly.
If you can spend the money without it affecting your ability to be financially solvent: buy what you want now.
