I prefer a trail running shoe. Fit like a sneaker, but better tread and usually a little more durable. Waterproof versions are available if that is something you are concerned about.
But really, wear what you want.
I will double down on the 303 products.
I've used 303 Cleaner and also the 303 Protectant for years with great success. Use it now on the MGV inside the Bronco. Wipe down door seals and fender flares as well. Low sheen, no fragrance. I use it on the tires too (I prefer low sheen on my tires).
I have the R/T's. They have been fine for street driving and wheeling in dry conditions and some wet, lightly snow covered high desert trails. That said I will not replace with the same when the time comes.
Why limit yourself to the OEM tires? There are many great options available depending...
I went camping with a buddy with a new Silverado ZR2 recently. Has the big old hood scoop center of the hood. Absolutely kills visibility when wheeling around. You have to drive by the front view camera half the time.

You could get pulled over for it. You gotta evaluate whether it's...
Not only does airing down help the contact patch get wider but also makes it longer. Many times the gain in length is significantly more than the gain in width. Either way, we are getting more surface area out of the tire regardless of the size and can always benefit from it off-road.
Plugs work great for nails and screws in the tread face, I've run more than I can count over the years. But if you get a sidewall puncture or tear, good luck. Nothing fixing that but a spare. Never go off-road without a spare.
