  1. Dealer claims diesel gas was in fuel tank

That's interesting. Mixing regular and premium would be hard to notice. Where do the additives get put in the fuel? At the Air Force base where I used to work they started buying Jet-A and then putting in the additives to make it the same as JP-8. It was cheaper than buying JP-8 from the...
  2. Dealer claims diesel gas was in fuel tank

I would be very skeptical of the dealerships claim. If the station had put the wrong fuel in it's tank that you pumped from there would be a lot of people with engine issues. Many stations don't even have diesel so check that first. Demand to get your own sample of the fuel and have it...
  3. NEW! Lobo Off-Road Overhead Mount System

It's not that they fail, they're just practically useless. Just search for some test videos. Stick with a real fire extinguisher. A fire can quickly get out of control and the time wasted trying to get the stick to do something useful could be the difference between minor damage and a...
  4. SetPower fridge/freezer

As RHeinz noted the fridge uses about 35-40 watt-hours of energy. So the size of the power pack is just a matter of how long you expect to run the fridge on the pack. I have 300 whr and 900 whr packs. The small one works when I just need to keep it running when stopped during the day. If I...
  5. SetPower fridge/freezer

I’ve gotten two sizes of Jackery power packs. They work well but if I were buying now I’d go with Ecoflow. I really like what they have for complete systems.
  6. SetPower fridge/freezer

Mine works very well. Has a good amount of insulation but I use a small power pack for when the Bronco is off. It uses very little power to keep it cold.
  7. Synthetic oil recommendations?

I go with the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. Get the three 5 quart case from Amazon for between $80 and $90 which is a good price. Use it for all but my daughters VW. In all the reviews I've seen it's one of the best. Doubt you can go too wrong with any of the synthetics mentioned. I have used...
  8. Drunk Sensor ?

I can see all kinds of issues with a passive sensor. If they try sampling the air in the vehicle it could easily pick up your drunk companions when you're the sober designated driver. So you're trying to get people home and have your car lock up and refuse to move. Not a good situation. If...
  9. Bronco Owners Invited by Ford to Exclusive Solar Eclipse Event. Blackout Package reveal for Bronco Raptor

If I hadn't already made eclipse plans I might be tempted. We signed up for a trip to view the eclipse 3 years ago. It includes more than the eclipse over 5 days in Austin. Very expensive but WTH it's the last one I'll likely get to see and my wife wasn't able to go with me to Idaho in 2017...
  10. Bronco EV reportedly on hold until early next decade (⚠️ ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS)

Hydrogen as a fuel has even more problems than the ones you note. Even the best storage has leaks and the leaked hydrogen also contributes to global warming. Imagine parking your car for a few weeks losing half of the fuel.
  11. Bronco EV reportedly on hold until early next decade (⚠️ ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS)

Solid-state batteries are right up there with fusion power as always being sometime in the next 30 years. Companies have been working on the technology since the 70's because of the benefits they would have as you noted. The problem is there are fundamental physics and chemistry challenges...
  12. Bronco EV reportedly on hold until early next decade (⚠️ ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS)

I like the idea of the Ram Charger pickup where the drive train is all electric with a modest battery and a gas engine driving a generator for when the battery runs out. All of the power/torque benefits of electric but still have the ability for long range and rapid refueling. When they come...
  13. 2024 Badlands Delivered. Stitched Dash Pad Photos

Yeah, many of the roads are closed. We're camping with friends at Furnace Creek. Been going there for 25+ years over President's day weekend. Biggest issue I've seen in DV off road is cut tires from sharp rocks.
  14. 2024 Badlands Delivered. Stitched Dash Pad Photos

We're going to Death Valley this weekend. Depending on what's open we'll take a few trails. Got my skid plates installed and tie-rod braces installed so should be ready. Bringing portable compressor to allow me to air down if needed. Will be going with some people with Jeeps so it will be...
  15. Custom Illuminated Aux Switches - DIY

Maybe I finally found a use for the Cricut machine my wife insisted on having but's been sitting in the closet for the last 8 years.
  16. Long Range Fuel Tanks?

I came across this for the Ranger. Doubt that it would work without some modification. Rather expensive as well. https://longrangeamerica.com/product/ford-ranger-2019-2023-37-gallon-replacement I've never seen a replacement tank for the Bronco. Development and qualification cost to include...
  17. Second failed transfer case

You should see if the dealership technician will give you the data readout from the computer. I'm sure there's more data available than the simple 4x4 system fault message. With a high end scan tool like the dealer will have you can read much more than the simple OBDII codes. There might be...
  18. HOLY WOW! $91,570 for a Bronco Heritage Limited

Only way it might hold value is to keep it pristine and not drive it. But what's the point of spending $90K on a vehicle you can't drive unless you want to burn money faster than fuel. If you're desperate for a blue and white Bronco just get something more reasonable and have it...
  19. Ford cutting 2024 F150 Lightning production by 1/2

I've read about the development and physics/chemistry behind solid state batteries. They've got a long way to go to ever be an affordable solution. Many companies and researchers have worked on them for over 50 years. Being able to make them at a price point that would viable for general use...
  20. Ford cutting 2024 F150 Lightning production by 1/2

I saw an article on CNBC tonight that Ford was making a large cut in the planned 2024 F150 Lightning production. Cutting it basically in half from 2023. It looks like Ford is realizing the demand just isn't there for full EVs in trucks at least. If I were in the market for a truck again I'd...
