Glad to know I'm not the only one who bought a watch to match their ride. Mine was a Seiko 5 with orange accents, however. A *slightly* more value priced option. 😉
Some background on IIHS and the headlight thing.
IIHS has been instrumental in getting safety improvements from manufacturers and government regulations. The offset test (where only about 25% of the bumper makes contact) was something almost no car could pass 20 years ago but almost all do...
Based on the other vehicles on the trailer it looks like this is not a Ford delivery. This bronco was probably sold at a dealership and is on private transport to the out of state buyer. A minor point but illustrates the lengths people are going to get their hands on this truck.
Do not get the HF trailer! If used for anything more than 3 trips a year to the local few blocks away garden center it will have met it's match. While the price is great so is the expense of having to get it towed out of the wilderness when the frame or axle breaks.
This is exactly what I'm thinking as well. Everyone with a res gets a first model year.
I can see ford not wanting the headline, "Ford cancels MY21 Bronco" which someone will certainly run with. As long as they can keep the revised timeline it will be a better option to launch with MY22.
Its my understanding that legally one can sell MY22 car after Jan 1, 2021. Should/could Ford just launch with MY22 for an extended production run?
Orders and deliveries would still start and proceed on the same timeline as we are currently expecting but would just have the MY22 designation...
Someone will bend their door, probably from abuse, and the thread title will be, "Bronco tail gate fail." It will soon get to 1000 posts and an aftermarket supplier will come up with some kind of reinforcement kit.
As a lifelong fan of the OG Bronco I'm looking to mod my new one to have some of the visual cues of the OG. As such, pizza cutters are mandatory along with high profile rubber on steel rims. The tires I keep coming back to are 235/85-16 but I have some reservations about them.
How will handling...
Is there any info on amp load these can handle? Do they run through a relay or is that something you need to provide?
Also, I'll be running an onboard air compressor through one of the switches.
Is it 7.5 feet point to point? The press release specifically says, "Extra tall campers, up to 7 feet, 6 inches" which implies a person of 7.5 feet tall could sleep diagonally not the maximum diagonal measurement. I happen to agree with you that 7.5 is probably the actual measurement but why not...
That F150 UI is trash. 2/3 of the display is a useless animation of the truck on various terrain types? I work in aviation where clarity and information density is important. There are no animations.
Just be aware the the Base does not come with the center console passenger grab handle. It might be able to be added but if you are planning on trading it isn't going to there to trade.
It's press releases like this that have me really close to pulling my reservation. Ford wants me to buy this car pretty much sight unseen and then puts out info about dimensions and capabilities that is close to useless.
Ford: Publish a photo with dimensions on it! 2 door and 4 door, seats up...
Totally agree. The standard accent pieces would match the black, grey, or tan interior and you could buy (at addition profit to Ford) a colored version if that is how you wanted to customize your ride.
I've never owned a vehicle that has a matched spare tire. What is best practice? Just leave it as a spare, rotate it through when rotating tires?
Edit: is TPMS an issue? Probably not know yet since no one has one yet.
No disrespect intended... But maybe this opinion is better expressed in a thread that is not specifically regarding "Bronco towing vs Ranger, why the difference?"
There are a lot more variables in the Bronco than the Ranger,
Ranger:
One wheelbase
One wheel diameter, more or less
One suspension height
One transmission
One engine
One axle ratio
Leaf spring rear
Bronco:
2 Wheel bases, both shorter than Ranger
30-35" wheels
Large range in suspension height...
