Yeah, and I guess since you said this, I've started thinking...but what about the 4runner, tacoma TRD pro, land rover defender and range rovers, etc? All those can also take it to the next level. I think there is a gap between people who want to casually offroad, and people who extreme offroad...
Yeah that post was a reaction to the 8.1s 0-60 from the 2.7l. Other posts have been about how to remove all that torque management that Ford put on this thing after cheapening out on the trans.
It's like death by 1000 cuts with this thing. I've tried to get into it so much as I wanted that...
Idk based on all the comments and vid its kinda like the bronco is neither here nor there. I have 2 on order dont get me wrong but ive test driven two and havent been blown away, and maybe this is why.
Its like, all the downsides and more of a jeep without all the capability.
Loud AF, louder...
Hey agree to disagree. I'm not saying there isn't a difference, there is, it's just that if you gave the prevailing sentiment full weight, you'd think the jeep is impossible to drive, even with the wheel turned 180 degrees it wont go straight, all over the road, death machine, and the Bronco...
I think people are greatly exaggerating the handling and drivability differences between the Bronco and the Jeep. I daily drive a JL Rubicon on 37s and have driven it 100k miles in the past 4 years all over the country. It drives great, tracks straight, handles fine. I've test driven 2 Broncos...
For those that aren't blind or design challenged, a fix is needed. Thats 99.99% of the population.
There is no way to justify those things. They blew it, plain and simple.
Is there any definitive way to remove the torque management completely that anyone has found? Is it a simple mapping thhing or something else going on? Trans will be fine.
If the bonco is nerfed due to going cheap on the trans (ranger trans can handle more torque), then Ford officially blew it. This was looking like a grand slam and I was wondering what they would screw up, and this may be it. Its like, how dumb can you be to go with a weaker trans and then have...
Theres so much they got right in the new defender, but way more they got so, so wrong. Starting with the styling, looks like a bloated dorky cartoon character. Beyond that, its just a vehicle that cant decide what it wants to be. Is it an offroader or not? Rubberized interior, with big plastic...
Im still not convinced as there are a ton of data points suggesting otherwise, and it just doesnt make sense given the F150 times, but we shall see as others get theirs and break them in.
