Yeah that's a quick and easy route to go. The one I did is a bit more involved. You'll love have the flexibility of added storage. One thing that's worked well for the top is the bedliner coating. It's just the cheap spray can version but works well enough.
The sasquatch spare tire causes issues for connecting a trailer to a standard ball mount. This Curt ball mount that is elongated solved the problem for me and you can see the ball with the rear camera
I had the same concern with the number of magnets. I figured itbwould be easier to subtract then add. As it turned out it does require some effort to detach it but it's not too bad. You have to slide forward with some upward pressure to get it to release. I did consider the piano hinge (that was...
I suppose theoretically you could add a removable seat. Seat belts would be the issue I think. All mounting points are factory no holes drilled. The factory holes are threaded and just bought threaded bolts that match. There are 8 of them in total.
Mine is about 8 inches which is more than it needs to be by about an inch and a half to 2 inches assuming your platform for sleeping is at the tip of the back seats when folded. It was a sacrifice I made to ensure the Ridgid boxes fit underneath it. I can sit up on the platform and still not hit...
The other panel is in process, I started it but now I want to make it a little longer. On the attachment end I routed an area so that a piece of one inch strap steel mounts flush and that is what attaches to the magnets. Each magnet has 60lbs of adhesive power so once attached, it's solid.
I built a rear platform that bolts into existing tie down locations. It is out of wood, I used 3/4 inch oak plywood for strength and coated it with the spray can version of Bed liner. Features are:
- Just high enough to store two Rigid boxes underneath
- Still have access to factory back...
