I did the same thing. They covered it as a warranty repair but the parts took a few weeks. I used a nut and some washers to hold it closed while waiting for parts. washer and nut on outside and screwed or down.

The soft top design. Easy to close and open and all of that sun for front and back passengers. when you close it there is a satisfying clunk! Hate the wave, love the sun rays.

did that will probably buy the hood struts this weekend.
