I used to have a 2019 Honda Civic hatchback, and high winds were more of a problem for it than they are with the 2-door Bronco. With the 2-door I notice the odd gust, but it doesn't feel like I’m being pushed around. Handles surprisingly well on the highway.
I've often wondered if, given its...
Yes, I've heard of this solution, but I would worry that the dealership will simply say "you've been messing with it, so we're not doing the service under warranty" (if the fix ever comes out).
Hi FMC, Do you know if the fix that Engineering was working on has been worked out yet? Others mentioned it earlier in this thread, and my local service adivsor also said it was planned to come out in Q4 2023. (We're getting close to Q2 2024 as of this writing)
We had a pretty heavy (and cold!) rainstorm Friday night and through much of Saturday. Exactly the kind of conditions that would have resulted in a leak before. Happy to report that the leak has not returned!
Yes, as @RCash8 noted, this channel is for drainage after the “first line of defence” (the outer seal, which excludes most water but is not waterTIGHT). You see something similar on cars with moonroofs - some water gets in between the seal and the roof, collects in a gutter around the opening...
I just had my Bronco in for unrelated service and when I picked it up the “intelligent access” (keyless unlock/lock) no longer works on the driver’s door. I know it was working perfectly just prior to leaving it with them, about 1 week prior. Nothing they were doing should have had anything to...
Got it back from service visit #3! This time they replaced the weatherstripping along the head of the windshield, and adjusted both front roof panels so neither appears to be pinching at the A-pillars. No visible sealant on the exterior. You’ll excuse me for not taking the roof off tonight to...
The black sealant in your photo is different from the stuff they put on (the interior side of) my weatherstripping during my 2nd visit. They told me mine was silicone sealant (caulking); it's a grey/silver colour and flexible. I would have thought the 3M stuff used here would also be...
Update:
Bronco is still at the dealership, but I got a video message and text saying that they will be replacing the weatherstripping - it’s ordered and *supposed* to be here tomorrow. They also said they corrected a “loose” alignment of the roof panel - not sure if they’re talking about what...
Tubing is a good idea - I thought about hanging some string through it, just to prove to the service dept that this is supposed to be a drain…
Not sure how the bestop attachment works, have never been up close & personal with a soft top. In my case, the corner of the hardtop panel is so tight...
Updates…
I took the bronco in a second time (earliest I could get another appointment, around end of January) to get the leak addressed. Provided the service advisor with a series of photos and a little writeup of what I thought the issue was (roof panel misalignment). Suffice it to say, I...
Bad news... got a nice little storm last night and the roof leaked again.
Good news... I still think we know what the problem was...
From what I can tell, the adjustments they made to the roof panels only correct the more obvious misalignment at the B-pillar. The corner at the A-pillar is...
Aw that’s sucks, sorry to hear. It’s possible they didn’t adjust the panel outwards enough - could still be blocking the weep. Then again if you found it was even more water this time, maybe that does speak to a bad seal. Could be it deformed to the old panel position over time.
Just had my...
It’s a cool idea, although I wouldn’t even consider it at this price. I’m also not a huge fan of the visual contrast against the rear MIC roof.
[Edit: just noticed that the Putco panel’s cams seem to use bolts that go right through to the exterior, with little depressions where water will...
Their site says it’s polycarbonate, which means it should be pretty resilient. Will probably get the odd scratch eventually, but should be better than acrylic.
Thanks @swooshdave - I think you were right on the money about this. I took the roof rack off in preparation for my appointment with the dealership (figured I’d make it a little easier for them… the less friction between them and the solution, the easier it is to get them to actually work on it)...
I figured out a way to achieve 0-60 in under 3 seconds, no modifications required.
All you had to do is drive it off a 37m tall cliff!
Although actually, with these aerodynamics I don’t know about terminal velocity…
[Edited to make my math make more sense in the context of this thread]
