Great advice, and a great looking rig. Coming from Wranglers I'm still adjusting to the Bronco with a 2-inch lift on 35s. The IFS is a double-edged sword; great on the highway but can get squirrely when you start increasing the front-end geometry, so I can see a lot of wisdom in moving slowly...
Nice work on this. If I hadn't already gone with a bolt on brush bar I would be a buyer for this.
And I completely agree about the modular bumper. 80% or more of my driving is pavement, so having the full-width steel-to-frame of the capable bumper up front is a big positive for me. Saw one too...
With their complex engines, sensor-dependent systems and complex ECU, I would be absolutely stupified if any 6Gs are still on the road in 50 years, much less desirable. All-metal V8 trucks were much easier to restore. Plus, do we even know if those green plastic clips that hold everything...
I totally get that. But there's a lot of capable bumper owners out there who are just looking for someone that can actually make some options for that bumper instead of the endless "coming soon" posts that they've been seeing. Lots of shops are making add-ons for the modular, but few seem to be...
Nice. I really like the idea of replacing the stock relay box with something like this. But I would just want to use my upfitter switches to turn on the relays and use heavier gauge wire from the MLC-6 out to my accessories, instead of using the Bronco's smaller gauge pre-run wiring. I'm not...
I really like the way that looks without the lamp guards. May take mine off now. 🤔 Great idea with the sensor relo kit. I don't have front sensors but I know that's a concern for many. Nice job!
Wow, these are all great solutions! Hats off to everyone in the 2D community who gets it done right. I drove 2D Wranglers for years and finally broke down and got the 4D when I ordered the Bronco because, you know, "you'll appreciate the extra space."
I regret it. Not enough to trade it. But I...
For a while I was considering multiple radios and my plan was to wire one power/ground (10-14awg) run to a female 2-pin deutch under the seat. Then I was going to mount each radio to a small cutting board with a handle and wire male 2-pin deutches to each. Velcro strips under the seat to hold...
Well that didn't take long. My culprit was the Midland mic ext cable. I had a feeling it would be something like that. Usually if there's an RFI problem the HF radio will find it first!
@TNTACO those are all good points, especially on the Bronco where you can't swing a dead cat without hitting...
Hi, Brandon-- No the GMRS ant is mounted on the passenger side fender on a stainless mount just like the CB ant is on the driver's side (photo). Both coaxes are run from a rubber grommet in the firewall just above the brake pedal (automatics only, I believe). So the GMRS coax is the only one...
Hi, guys. Sorry I'm a little late on this but I found it interesting because I've run into a little noise glitch myself. I'm running both CB and GMRS with antennas mounted on the fenders and grounded to the frame. The 5w CB is just fine. Low SWR on the lower two thirds of the band and no noise...
Yeah, grounding that CB was a project for me. 11 meters is just so picky. And the mounts I was using were not the friendliest for grounding. Sounds like you found a better solution than I did though.
Finally found a location I like for my Cobra 75 All Road box, and thought I'd share in case someone else either wanted to try it or (more importantly) you see a downside that I haven't recognized yet! I planned for a long time to put both radios under the seats, but I just don't like having...
