Yes, the 10R80 is stout, an excellent performing auto trans. As stated above, it rips in the Mustang platform. I was very happy when I heard it would be in the Bronco.
Totally understand, the crawler gear is awesome. Even though I am set on the auto, I feel for all the manual folks. I really think had the MT been included across the board, there would be very few flaws with the reveal being discussed right now.
As a Coyote owner, I honestly think the 2.7 is a better fit (pun intended?) for the Bronco application. The 5.0 has a very linear power curve, it is not a massive torque hit off the line like the Chevy 6.2 is, it needs to be revved to maximize the power application. Great in a Mustang, not so...
I made it work in my FJ Cruiser with less space and a half suicide door. Not ideal, but the Bronco will do it better. I wouldn't consider it a deal breaker, and the kiddos grow into the booster seat so fast.
There will definitely be a lot of folks on the fence test driving the 2.7 with 10R80 that were previously set on the MT. The saving grace is that the 10R80 is a fantastic auto. Not sure what has been going on with the F150s, but the Mustang owners with the 10R80 rave about them.
