I've not heard back from York after sharing the Grangers / Stephens deal.
More than likely will be switching my reservation to Stephens in WV unless another local New England dealer steps up and offers some type of deal at/under invoice.
Great photos @jrstorm1007! I think I'm pretty much all but decided on Cactus Gray after seeing these. I prefer more green tint than blue and that's what appears to be the case here... looks great!
I think so too. And 20 may not be nearly enough to get a dealer to bite, but I didn't want to over promise without knowing for sure. I'm hoping for any response, even a "no way", and I can then open the dialog about what it would take for a deal to be offered. We'll see.
I floated "20 or so" reservation holders that may be willing to switch in my email to my current dealer. Still no response back. I'm going to give it the weekend before following up with a phone call on Monday.
If I do end up buying from Stephens in WV, I would love to find some *mild* trails to run on during the return trip. Where do you recommend picking up the TAT route GPS files? Do I have to buy it from the TransAmericaTrail website?
Would be great to see how the Black Diamond performs in stock garb.
I've been searching for routes on Vermont's Class IV roads and NH's equivalent Class VI roads. From what I've seen, some look pretty damn gnarly. Especially in Vermont. I'll most likely start out by exploring dirt back / logging roads that I know pretty well in Coos county (in-laws live up...
I'll most likely use an app that integrates with CarPlay, like Gaia, to navigate offroad. You can download maps and routes for offline use. I've always had good success navigating backpacking routes / biking trails in areas with zero cell service but the GPS still works. $36 for the 1 year...
That's what my local dealer is claiming as well (MSRP + doc fee). By my math, and with my current Black Diamond build out using the survey options pricing, I'm looking at approximately $1,700 savings going with someone like a Stephens or Granger ($1,300 off invoice) compared to just X-plan...
I just want the mid package for the heated seats (Black Diamond). Call me spoiled but I love having a warm rump during the winter months in New England and something tells me the marine grade vinyl will be COLD. If I could option in heated seats as a standalone item I'd skip the mid package.
I haven't formally made the switch to Stephens yet but I'm really leaning that way. If I do I'll be flying out. I have a bunch of American Airlines points I need to use. Flights to CRW are pretty frequent and with 1 connection only about 4.5ish hours in total travel time. I put together a rough...
Essentially identical to what I've got spec'd out right now minus the tow package that I want to use for a hitch mounted bike rack. I'm also hoping the slide out tailgate comes in sub $400 but we'll see. Not holding my breath after seeing the survey prices.
With the Granger/Stephens $1,300 off...
I was all in on a 4-door BD w/mid, 10A and hard top (grey MIC). But now I'm considering the OB w/MIC hard top for essentially the same price. Could even tack on the modular HD bumper and if I can add a rear locker to the OB for short-ish money that will make the decision even tougher.
95% sure I'm going to be switching from York to Stephens. It's too bad we don't have any dealers here in the northeast that are offering deals like Granger and Stephens.
I think I'm just about there, too. Looks like a pretty easy (and affordable) flight to CRW from Logan. Not a bad drive home either through what I can only assume will be some pretty country!
