I appreciate the kind words and apologize for the delayed reply.
I didn't use any guides for the removal and it was pretty straight forward (although i have pulled seats from other vehicles in the past). The only small nuisance was the seatbelt removal under the seat. You have to unbolt it to...
I use BattleBorn batteries bc of the quality of their internals (cell matching between packs, design and build of their BMS, the actual usable capacity of the pack, and their warranty). I've used them for years in commercial/military settings and their quality is a noticeable step above the...
For anyone that is interested in this solution, shoot me a direct message and I'll try and help out. I won't be following this thread consistently since its become a bit of a show and tell, but don't want to leave anyone out in the cold that does need this something like this.
Not everyone does need it or something like it. I did so I made it. I dont use car play and many others dont either. I also offroad mine a ton so a very sturdy mount for that purpose using apps that dont play through android auto is very beneficial. Most people who buy offroad trucks are also...
For sure. Ram makes all sorts of different arm lengths that could be combined to achieve any angle. I don't use the handle so i wasn't worried about additional clearance, but it could easily be configured that way.
I feel the same way, especially with regard to the quick insert and removal when in and out of the truck a lot. Any arms leveraged off the dash concern me with that load transfer as you pull at the device over and over again.
What I made is so rigid that it doesnt move when i pop the phone in...
Because of the angle of the arms coming off of the dash with a rail, you get significantly more vibration and device shaking than with an arm supporting the device from below. That is my only objection to a dash rail system. If i needed to mount a ton of items, that would certainly be the way to...
Surprisingly its not in the way since its basically vertical from the side of the handle. I'm solo 95% of the time so i didnt care either way when designing it, but my wife hopped in after I made it and didnt even touch it (or notice it was there until I pointed it out).
If you were a really...
I appreciate that bud... ive used the cup holder ones in the past on previous vehicles but just hate the way they look and kill a cup holder, so i wasnt willing to do that with this truck. Certainly more work this way though!
Probably a bit north of $100 in total... but I'd have to check to be sure.
The components from RAM are $65 total from Amazon.... then my material and hardware cost.
Totally worth it for me to not have my phone screen blurry the whole time im driving 😆
I tried a bunch of different phone mount options, including a few of the dash mount solutions, and was not happy with any of them. That being the case, I decided to make my own.
I used the mount points for the factory center console handle, and created a very rigid mount plate for a 1" ball...
Thanks man... with the right process and use of templates, and a lot of patience, you can get results that look identical to a cnc product with much more basic tools (handheld router and a flush trim bit).
Its often more rewarding than the cnc work i do, but I wouldn't trade having the cnc in...
