Bought a Gladiator Rubicon; fits my usage perfectly. Rated to tow 7K lbs. Drove it home 600 miles of 2 lane and highway. Excellent road manners except for when it was windy!
Wishing everyone the best with their Broncos; anxious to see them on (and off) the road!
As for the mentality of "It's the same as Jeep, so we're good": can you even get the tow pkg with Sasquatch? Because with Jeep, you're still at 3500 with the Rubicon model.
trying to overcome this kinda reminds me of those trying to overcome Gladiator trucks' lack of power for towing, bigger tires, etc.
You would hope manufacturers would take into account the customer's intended usage.
Camper, cargo trailer, maybe my boat for short distances. Primarily wanting tow capacity for the cargo trailer, a tall 7 x 14 weighing 4440 loaded.
Not a huge deal; I'll buy something else. Ford won't miss me in the least. Just surprised by the 3500, and curious about others in a similar...
I've been wanting a fun SUV with a tow rating of 5K or better. Was hoping (and expecting) the Bronco to provide this. Back to the drawing board.
Considering the V6 (ugh) Jeep truck or the '21 Durango SRT. Part of me feels like the Jeep/Bronco climate will be much better for the consumer in...
Leaving the tow rating low gives Ford another "reason" to offer a Bronco truck.
They will still sell a huge number of Broncos, but not one to me. 3500 is a deal breaker (for me!).
But I'll keep watching, just in case. The Gladiator is back to the top contender for me.
There sure is a lot of of Sheldon Cooper's "You're having fun wrong" mentality in these towing threads (unfortunately, without his emotional detachment).
I guess I won't ask what folks think will happen to Jeep's tow ratings when/if they put a V8 in the Wrangler/Gladiator. Prime opportunity...
SAME HERE! Wanted to buy the Bronco instead of a Gladiator, but as of now that's out. I need to pull a 4400 lb (max load) cargo trailer. Want something fun that can do it.
Maybe the Bronco will make the Gladiator cheaper. It sure needs to be, IMO.
