I’ve been waiting a long time and hoping SVC @SVCOFFROAD would start releasing more for the bronco raptor. Like many companies it seemed like they had some hesitation committing to the platform. But now SVC has released Tie Rods, Rear Links, Upper Control Arms, Panhard Bar, and soon diff cover (for the regular Bronco as well). I was super happy they did a raw aluminum and they all look great! The most noticeable upgrade was the tie rods which removed any slip from the steering. The UCAs/ links seems to add a little more movement front and rear. I’m hoping the diff cover comes soon because I need it.

“Aerospace aluminum.” 😂😂😂😂 Jesus. Just say the grade and cut the fluff. The term “aerospace” has been abused and now conjures up the image of amateurs that will wreck your car 😂😂

What do you mean by “tightening” the steering?

I had to go through and find where it said that 😂 as a pilot I have no idea what that’s supposed to mean. But thank goodness it has that accreditation otherwise I couldn’t fly my bronco.

By tightening I mean previously I could feel a little play in the wheel before it would “catch” and start actually turning the wheels. With the half ties when I start turning the wheel it feels like it is “catching” and turning immediately.

That’s interesting as it seems like after we went to heim that’s when we noticed the catching sensation. Granted that’s also with heims at both ends, a huge scrub radius increase from the portals, and 40” tires, so it would make sense that anything “loose” would be more noticeable when replacing ball joints with heims.

Your build is a lot more involved than mine so far, I love what yall have done! It could be since I don’t have those juicy 40s or portals that the tie rods were more noticeable for me.

We’re about to completely redo the suspension. Last of the parts should show up today then it’s time to start cutting. Rear portal delete to follow.

Not exactly a game changer. More of a ME TOO product launch. FOUTZ has tons for the Raptor parts including suspension (longer travel).

Heim joint steering sucks for noise and play. I'm waiting for a HD ball joint style tie rod for the Raptor.

Also... It should be noted that the "catching" feeling turning right to left is also from the 74weld steering rack housing. Quinn said he would be working on a solution (never heard back). Essentially they made the steering rack have a solid pinion spacer vs the stock spring style tensioner between the pinion and rack bar. In theory it is stronger but in practice it ruins the steering feel.

We put the 74W housing on the Raptor when it was new. Clunking steering when sawing the wheel right/left resulted. I swore it felt like the tie rods were clunking. Ford dealer agreed and replaced both (inner/outer) with no change. I sent a video to Quinn explaining the situation. He finally divulged the information... No surprise after all the drama with their other products.

Wait-so it is my rack and not the heims. Go figure.

What was the explanation?

That's odd, I haven't felt any slipping and I've had their full rack for almost two years.

Quinn said they are working on a OEM spring style tensioner design for the pinion. But I'm guessing that is low priority after watching them add more product lines they have no experience with. More guinea pigs needed... HAHA

It's not "slipping" it's clunking. When stationary it is extremely obvious. Just saw the wheel left to right you'll feel and hear it clunking. While you will get a similar sensation from Heim joints in this case it is also from the steering rack.

Exactly what ours does. “Slipping” was only used as that seemed to be the accepted nomenclature for the thread based on the SVC description. Basically it feels like worn out heims, despite their being brand new.

I'll have to try that. Is it a concern from a wear pov or something? Or is just a noise?
