I wanted to share a few thoughts on some @Mountains2Metal products I recently picked up. A couple of these are pretty new, and I couldn’t find much info on them beforehand, so I figured this might help anyone else considering them.

Drop Down Attic (2-door)

I bought this right after it was released a few months ago. It’s one of those items I don’t use every single day, but that’s not really the point. It doesn’t hold a ton, but it uses that overhead space really efficiently. For me, it’s a good spot for things I don’t want to accidentally leave behind when I’m rearranging the rest of the cargo area. In winter, that’s been an emergency blanket and a couple of towel seat covers for after runs. As a bonus, it's basically invisible when closed unless you're looking up at it.

I haven’t mounted anything to the Molle cutouts yet, but I plan to. I did have some issues with the first two sets of brackets, but Nick at M2M helped troubleshoot and got me a solid set quickly. I kind of see that as part of being an early adopter of a new product.

Side Rear Molle Panels + Sliding Tailgate

I ordered these together and just got them last week. The side panels do exactly what they’re supposed to do. Install was straightforward, and I like that they add some protection to the cargo area trim, which I had already managed to scuff up.

The sliding tailgate was the one I was most excited about, and so far it’s been great. There always seemed to be more options for the 4-door, especially if you didn’t want to pull the rear seats, so it’s nice to see something that fits the 2-door well. Install was very simple, the included Allen bolts replace the eight factory cargo hook bolts, and that’s basically it. Easiest install of the bunch.

The tray itself isn’t huge, but that’s more about the available space than the design. I made an Imgur album with some photos of various measrements to help get a better sense of size. You can find that here. It’s sturdy enough to sit on when extended, which is a nice bonus. This is also going to help a lot in the summer when I’ve got a hitch-mounted hammock on. That sticks out pretty far, so loading the cargo area can be awkward. Being able to slide the tray out will make that a lot easier.

I was a little concerned about losing access to the under-floor storage, but you can still get to it by removing a couple of thumb screws and taking off the center section of the rear lip. Takes a minute or so, not a big deal.

Overall, I’ve been happy with everything I’ve gotten from M2M so far, and my customer service experience has been solid. Just wanted to pass along some real-world impressions in case it helps someone else.

It definitely doesn’t slide out as much as a 4 door model would, but it’s enough to clear the bumper and anything coming off the back of the hitch.

how much value do you feel you get from the slideout? Given it's not such a reach to get anything that would actually fit on there

Personally, I think I’ll get more than enough value to justify the cost. For me, there are two main things I think I’ll use it for. The first is to use as a makeshift place to sit. I coach a summer running program, and spend a good 10-15 minutes every day in June and July sitting on the back of the car waiting for all the kids to show up. This makes it much more comfortable. The second is to make loading and unloading things much easier when I have my hammock mount attached to the hitch (also stays attached all summer). I have a hammock mount from Adventure Hammock Systems (https://adventurehammocksystems.com/products/hammock-mount?variant=40583157678265). In order to clear the spare tire, it sticks out quite a bit. This makes the process of loading and unloading the vehicle tricky. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve slammed my shin into the mount when not paying attention.

I’m fully willing to admit that it might not be a product for everyone. For me, though, it’s 100% worth it.

If you had a cooler, toolbox or a power station mounted to it - it could be very handy. Not having to drag everything out to get to it would be nice, I admit. I've been eyeballing one for a while but I don't have anything like that mounted at the moment for me to pull the trigger on it (I do have the M2M molle panel sides, which I love)

The other use I found today is I can slide the tailgate out to get better access without opening up the top glass. I know it’s arguably no less work, but sometimes it’s nice.

Props to them for making a tailgate slide that's compatible with cargo side Molle panels. It looks like it would work with the broaddict version I have and probably other brands as well. I have a few things from m2m and the quality is top tier.

I do like those molle panels and think those will have to be something I add. Right now, I put my power station behind the passenger seat, but it doesn't fit as well as I'd like and I think the best play would be to secure it to molle in the back passenger side and keep my fridge on the driver's side.

now this is something I had not stopped to consider and might be valuable to me.

The attic seems a little overpriced for what it is. I would consider it if it was maybe $150 less.

The slide out tray I am strongly considering. I was going to go with the goose gear plate system and 50% seat delete with a fridge slide originally. I have the JCR rear shelf and from the measurements I have seen it appears that this will clear with my fridge on it. Right now I have to pull it out from under the shelf and hold it with my knee while getting stuff out lol. This slide would also be cheaper, which is a plus.

I appreciate your input and additional photo angles!

I kind of like the Broaddict version of the tailgate slide better. It looks to be more useful.

I snapped a photo as I was unloading groceries today to show what I was referring to about being able to load/unload without opening up the rear glass.
