OBX non-sas here soon. Saw one today with the KO2 275/70/18 on stack rims. Curious if anyone has the 285/65/18 on theirs and what that looks like? Thanks!!!

I’m running 275/65r18 32.1” diameter 10.8”width(which is same diameter as stock 255/70r18 just wider 10.0”. 285/65r18 is 32.6” diameter and 11.2” wide. So you get extra weight on tire for a for minimal gain. Also not a tire expert but I think 285 only available in LT option. Consensus on this forum is the 275/70 are the best tire choice for non sas for larger tire without the need for lift or crash bar removal. I went with 275/65 so speedo stays unchanged and minimal weight gain but slightly wider.

After seeing an OBX with the 275/70/18 KO2 today in person for the first time, I think I want a little more openness in the wheel well area and thought perhaps 65 but 285 on width KO2. I really want the white lettering effect. Was leaning towards the Copper AT3’s (275/70) but can’t find them with the white lettering aspect in the 285/65/18 size, but can in the KO2’s…

Maybe something to think about…
If your stock tires are Bridgestone Duellers 255/70r18, (what used to come stock on OBX non sas)specs for that tire show 43lbs. For the 285/65 KO2 is 58lbs. Keep in mind the effect of adding roughly 15lbs of tire weight to each wheel. If the specs I’m looking at are right. Hope it works out for you and you’re happy at the end is all that matters. Must be getting pretty excited for delivery.

Thanks Dan-O! Yeah getting excited now, should hopefully see it before Memorial Day weekend, which is also my son’s 16th B’Day (2014 VW Tiquan for him), and will have a house full of family visiting. Would be great to have two new cars to play with!
Mine has the 4.27 gearing so not too worried about the added weight in terms of performance and MPG’s. I like the 65 series better than the 70 now, like the proportions. Costs a bit more for the 285/65 vs the 275/70, but at this point what’s $500!
