Hello all, The black screen of death has hit me. I was doing a weeklong trip on Rim Rocker and then to Cathedral Valley when it started happening. First it would go black for a little bit and then come back, now it stays black. The bronco Rolling rocks play and the blue bronco screen has a delay before going black, the radio still works and can switch channels through the steering wheel control. Some more back ground for direction I should be looking at. Sirrus was acting strange and dropping satellites way more than usual for the past few weeks and now it does not drop them at all. I believe I melted my 12v power ports as they are both dead and fuses are ok. Used to charge my power station that was running my cooler via 12v which is less than 100w so all I can say is Wow to the dependability of something so simple and around forever. That a fix for another day as I do not think they are related. I ran FORscan and the modules all seem to pass and I did a reset of the APIM with FORscan also. It is not throwing any codes so wondering what I should be looking at. Any ideas @Ducati1098

I would do a hard reset. Disconnect both battery terminals, touch them together, let it sit for maybe 5-10 minutes, hook everything back up and see what happens.
If that doesn’t work, probably needs an APIM

Ok I have done just the ground cable so I will try both of them. I am thinking it is the APIM also. Do you know if I can order one with vin and as built installed. I am more than capable of installing myself. Thanks for the fast reply!!!

Not that I’m aware of. The ones from Ford come blank and need to be programmed.
Probably something you can do with forscan, but not sure as I’ve always just used FDRS

I have a friend that has FDRDS with his shop so I will probably have him program it. Thanks again!

please update this thread when you learn more / fix it
Will do. I talked with my buddy and he does not do APIM's anymor, he said he has gotten burned a couple of times and had to replace the replacement. After getting a quote from Ford to get the module and they do the install and programming it will be a month or 2. Sucks because I am capable of doing all the work but they will not touch it unless they do it all. I will live with seeing radio channels on my instrument cluster for now and live without car play(first world problems, I know).

Update on the black screen, sorry I did not post sooner. I took to the dealer to diagnose and they did an internal software reset or something like that with there Standard 1 hour diagnosis charge and that cured the problem for now. If anything changes I will post an update.
