sport big bend, judging by the big ol holes in the grill
Unfortunately, both images are of the back of the car. That was my first guess, too, but couldn't for the life of me figure out why the front plate was so brightly lit.

Same here - I thought it was front and back because the taillights were so bright they looked like headlights, but they were also the wrong shape. I also couldn't figure out how the neighbor had two camera angles (when in fact it was the same camera for both shots), nor why the perp would have pulled forward into the driveway, and then backed in afterward.

Why would someone leave mail in the mailbox in the middle of the night?

Appears to be someone looking for packages, even opened the rear tailgate in anticipation. If your neighbors mail is anything like mine, the thief got a handful of Junk Mail.

Perhaps it was one of those nefarious people from Norwich :)

I thought I was looking at the front on that first photo and thought how cool they put suicide doors on a Bronco sport 😉

Assuming that's an infrared shot in the dark, you might be looking at a blue or green one as well, looks sorta close to what mine looks like in infrared: (velocity blue)

My internet sleuthing stops here. call the postmaster general in your area, they do not take kindly to people fucking with the mail and have a hilariously high conviction rate.

This better be OPs update post.....

The whole thing seems weird. Wish we could see the actual video.

So this guy backs into the driveway, leaves the lights on, and walks around the back of the car, only to go check the mailbox that’s presumably on the curbside to his right…? And then, before he gets back in the car, at some point he opened the rear hatch and turned the lights off?

How long was he there? It seems like an awful lot of messing about if he was just trying to steal some mail. And the security camera didn’t get one clear frame where you could see his license plate, even though he was courteous enough to present it directly to the camera?

None of this makes any sense to me.

He only looked in the mailbox? Why did he open the hatch in the back? And he backed in. Maybe he was going to do more?

Ya, it's bizarre. Not the smartest mail/package thief. He was there for 20 minutes. He took the mail into the car and stayed in the car long enough to check each envelope to see if it might have contained a check or a card, before getting out and dropping the mail. No clue why he opened the tailgate since there were no packages to be stolen.

Yes, only the mailbox. He didn't approach the front door. No clue why he opened the back. But backing in suggests he wanted to be able to leave quickly.
