A spontaneous trip to the Cascade Volcanos was planned when Art announced a Mt. Adams adventure starting Thursday, with Adam joining Friday evening. The group met in Cascade Locks and headed to Trout Lake, aiming to explore lakes and waterfalls. Despite mosquito challenges at Chain of Lakes and Muddy Meadows, we were prepared and ended the first day at Walupt Lake in the Goat Rocks Wilderness. On Friday, after stopping in Packwood for fuel and cell service, we faced road closures en route to Mt. St. Helens but used the detour to enjoy mountain views. We met Adam at Windy Ridge, but his vehicle later showed a charging system error. We headed toward civilization, stopping at a waterfall and camping overnight. On Saturday, while capturing morning views of Mt. Rainier, Adam’s vehicle lost power. We towed him to Randle for repairs, cutting the trip short but leaving open the possibility of a future visit to retrieve Adam’s Bronco.
