DD bikini top and headliner hardware

I ordered both the headliner and bikini top. I have the headliner on now and I think it makes a difference in noise. My casual decibel reader readings suggest about 3-4 decibels. That doesn't sound like much but because it's a natural log scale, that more than a 50% reduction.

My question: the headliner comes with plastic clips. The bikini top comes with metal ones. I thought they would be the same. Does anyone know if you can use the same hardware? And if so which one is best to use? (I would assume metal.)
