For a whole week, every time I floored it I only got 10 psi boost. Driving to the dealership appointment yesterday, I wanted to verify that it was still the same and like magic - 16 psi, every time. I will consider it good for now and keep an eye on the oil level.
Interesting side note, my wife just got a Mazda CX-90 and it doesn't even have a dipstick. Oil level is displayed through the infotainment system or on the app. Convenient as long as it works, especially if the dipstick is going to be as hard to use as the Bronco.

CX9 looks like a nice vehicle.

I wonder if the new engine had software restrictions during break-in that might account for this. How many miles since replacement when it finally opened up?

There is nothing like that, at least not for Ford's

I think you should have the cat's looked at regardless to make sure they weren't damaged by the failed engine. They're not exactly a cheap part to replace, and now would be the only time you'll have to form an argument that they too should be replaced via the warranty. If you were burning that much oil through the engine, then that oily residue is likely caked into the cats too. Your call, but I think a mistake to skip it. All they'll have to do is detach and stick a camera into them to look at the element.

my BMW 330i from 2006 had no dipstick and the oil level displayed like that.
seems great as long as it works/can be trusted!
