There are times my front camera doesn’t work when I start my Bronco but then will work by the time my drive is over. This is random times and sporadically. I called the dealership and they wanted me to drop it off with them until it happened for them but also wouldn’t give me a loaner while it was there even though it’s under warranty. Can anyone tell me if it will leave a code that can be looked up that could be checked so the camera doesn’t have to not work while there so I don’t have to be without a vehicle until the figure it out?

I had this issue with my front camera as well. It progressively got worse and would happen more often. Eventually I took it in to get serviced and it happened to not be working. So I showed them at drop-off and they replaced it under warranty. Now that my warranty is up the passenger side mirror has seldomly begun doing the same thing.

I got mine in July of 22 so my warranty is almost up as well so want to get it taken care of before then.

Mine does the same thing but I’m out of warranty. It doesn’t happen that often.

If your Fordpass account is set up, message me the VIN and I can check the last 60 days worth of codes the truck reported to the cloud. If it is happening sporadically and it does report a code when it happens, I would be able to see it in its history.

Mine was doing this - first time they checked it (it was behaving) they could see there was a fault in the system but they were unable to pinpoint which component wasn't working. It doesn't specify and pin testing only works when the component is acting up. The next time I brought it in, it fortunately stopped working while they had it and they were able to find that it was the camera itself and replaced under warranty.

@EgreenBadSquatch Got your message. Your truck is constantly reporting these codes every time you drive it. It is not referencing any TSB's that I can give you to show the dealer. The failure type on the front camera DTC (the number 31 you see there) means no signal. Looks like a faulty camera or maybe a loose connection between the IPM and the camera. Some pin-point tests with FDRS I assume would diagnose this pretty easily, but sometimes if the dealer cannot replicate the issue, they don't dig too deep into things.

Thank you. I have a few dealers to choose from for service. One recently got bought out and I’m not happy with them anymore and they are the ones that didn’t even want to look up the VIN that I was pretty sure they could do. I will check the other dealer.

I replaced the camera myself after it sat at the dealer a week without being looked at, fixed.

Warranty or not, that's exactly what I would have done. Sometimes it's just not worth the hassle of going the dealership route.

I did not expect the part to be that cheap.

The thing about the DIY route is that you never really know. Is it the camera? Is it the cable? Is it the IPMA/IPMB itself? Is everything fine but maybe it's just a loose plug that needs to be seated better? Easiest thing to check is the camera plugs at the camera itself and the module and start working your way from there. The camera is cheap and easy enough to swap out, but if it's the cable itself or the module, then price/time becomes a problem where going with warranty is the way to go.

If you want to check the easy stuff first, these will help. The front cam and IPMB seem to be easy to get to in these trucks.

I have the same issue, going to check the cables and re-seat them. If that doesn’t work going replace the camera myself

When you replaced it yourself did you need any other parts, or just that?

That’s all I needed. I’m a pro at removing the grill, I used to have Morimoto lights…just went back to stock.
