Ford did and update to my infotainment system and rearview camera. When the update went through the bottom inch of my screen was all vertical lines. I was told by Ford that the update wasnt compatible to the rearview camera system and it would clear up once it was swapped in the recall. Took it to the dealer who swapped out the rear camera, then the dealership called and told me that the modules would have to be replaced as well, then they called back and told me there would be a charge of $386.80 for syncing the new system. Obviously I called immediately to Ford to complain that their update is what caused my screen to mess up and their recall is why all of this was happening. Once I was passed that hurdle of calls they contacted the dealership and cleared that up. Then the dealership called and told me my battery (which I just replaced a few months ago) was below 40% and that I would have to have them install a new battery and pay for labor charges and total cost would be $287. So I again called Ford and explained that they had told me all of this and once again Ford straightened the dealership out. Now 10 hours later they contact me to tell me it was done. Once I get to the dealership they tell me all the updates were done and all recall work was done but that the screen still had the vertical lines but that was going to have to be another day and would be a new screen replacement and it would be $1500.00 plus labor and that Ford would not cover it!!!! WHAT IN THE WORLD??? FORD sent the update that started the entire process, and this was 100% their fault. My Bronco is a show car. It's a 2022 Outer Banks with less than 20k miles always garaged and in pristine condition and their update causes a glitch and now somehow it's going to cost me $1500.00 plus labor and NOT covered by Ford??????? I AM FURIOUS!

Contact Ford again and work your way up the corporate ladder until you find someone who can help you. You have to be diligent, but you will find somebody.
Good luck!

You should try another dealer. They've been trying to get you to pay for something, and that isn't right.

Not the answer to your problem, and certainly not something anyone should have to do on a new vehicle, but I unplugged my telematics module during the first week of ownership. No random updates, no battery drain, and no risk of being stranded somewhere because of a dead battery or a failed update. My phone provides all the connectivity I need. I don't need my Bronco checking in with Ford 24/7. The ford GPS navigation app still works but the maps are just dated.

After about a year or so, I'll reconnect the module, pull down the latest updates, and then disconnect it again. It only takes about 30 seconds to access the connector behind the glovebox.

Excellent advice.. I never even thought of doing that. And yes same here.. I dont use any of the connectivity options anyway. My phone is what I use for everything while I am in the vehicle. I dont use Sirius or Alexa or any of the aps at all. Thanks for the heads up. Once everything gets taken care of that is going to be first on the list to do!
