My 4dr hard top version of the jtopsusa bimini top is soon to be in. I was watching the installation videos and I noticed it said to give it 24 hours minimal after installing the Velcro. Is that 24 hours without putting the hard top back on at all? Or is it okay to put the hard top back on while waiting?

I installed mine on a soft top. The way I interpreted the instructions is to let the velcro cure on the vehicle for 24 hours by itself. I did not installed the mesh top or top after the 24 hr period. No issues in almost 2 years.

could you share your exact process. I have watched the videos, read the instruction pdfs, everything and I can’t get the Velcro to stay for the life of me.

current process is as follows:
1) lay the mesh top out using clips and magnets then mark the start for the Velcro strips using fridge magnets on the roll bars.
2) remove the mesh top.
3) 99% alcohol to clean the surface and let dry.
4) adhesion promoter applied to roll bar and let dry for 2 min.
5) Velcro applied to roll bar and rubbed in with spoon to remove any air bubbles.
6) wait 24 hours and re apply mesh top.

I followed the same instructions. I did this on my garage. I see that you are in TX, so is hot (better for adhesion). I left the mesh in place, but secured it with clips to avoid getting stuck to the curing velcro.

Now, when I was cleaning the areas using rubbing alcohol, I went over a few times with a cloth and spray bottle, followed with a clean cloth to ensure all was removed. The paint should not feel slippery when you run a dry finger on it. I wish, I had more adhesion promoter when I installed mine, but the provided vials were enough. Once I rolled the velcro from front to back, I used a roller tool (used to install sound deadening), instead of a spoon, but anything that applies pressure will work.

I assume that you already used all the provided velcro and adhesion promoter. You will have to order more and really clean the area again. Maybe use (cautiously) mineral spirits and then alcohol.

Be patient. I suggest to let it cure for longer than 24hrs and not under direct sunlight, specially under the TX sun.

Hope this helps.

I skipped all that and have had good results.

1. Put velcro on the top but not sticky yet. Get everything tightened up where it should be.
2. Loosen back up and prep area underneath on 1 side (alcohol > primer pad).
3. Remove backing and stick velcro in place with the top attached.
4. Repeat on other side.
5. Drive it the next morning.

Worked twice actually (I removed the velcro in the winter - BAD IDEA. No need, but once I started no turning back. Will leave on forever now).

FWIW: Temps in the 70's when applied, so not in the heat.

I also modified the front to add some magnets to help the front from flipping up at higher speeds.
