Question: If you get aftermarket shocks you would still need to take it to a dealer to verify the OEM shocks are not installed in order to clear the recall from my VIN... correct?>

I wonder if the same will happen with the front. I have a good amount of corrosion in the same area the rears had their issues with. I got full replacement of the rears last month.

Unlikely. Probably would've seen them falling off already.

Just put a hose clamp around the fronts. The rears can still fall off. They just won’t bounce off the front of someone’s car with the diapers installed.

Not sure I'm feeling this "fix". For those who have installed different shocks, what did you install? I'm possibly looking to replace mine with something that has the same ride height, but less stiff than stock. I know nothing about shocks and I'm afraid to go down the rabbit hole.

Just clean and spray gravel guard on that area the sleeves are not going to prevent moisture but would be a armor on top of gravel guard.

Probably keeps them from leaking until right after the warranty expires.
Do not think they will leak unless they break free and stress the connector to the shock. For those that have not been able to get recall completed maybe tie wraps and spacers made of rubber could hold off the detachment of reservoir temporarily. Mickey mouse but may improve safety. Looks like Ford just 3D printed plastic shells and added some bolts then filled with adhesive or filler. Wonder if this fix will lead to future problems ? If road salt gets into the internal areas of the plastic retainer shells, will the shock leak at the reservoir or shock ? Abrasion through motion may also expose bare metal to allow corrosion to accelerate. Maybe an oil based undercoat could help !

I went this route for now to let the area breath and still be able monitor the welds.. I put the original boots back on. Hope for a future leak and new shocks.
