I've had my Bronco for about two years now. I've kept it mostly stock figuring out what sort of driving I enjoy letting that guide the build process. I just recently started with quality of life type mods. I love smashing through mud and short course tracks my vehicle take a beating.

I started with the Armorlite wash out liner I'm a windows down/doors off kinda driver.

I think Armorlite really understated how easy this install was. Nice easy pace this took me three hours to do with no assist. Great afternoon project.

Shameless plug to me. I installed the hard top accessories from ModCrate. Mostly because it looks cool and I like to keep a Gopro pointed at my kids. Their reactions make me smile.

I am thinking a new intake is next on the list. I'll definitely be looking at throwing on one of those pre filter nets. I'd like to try and keep my airbox from looking like after every weekend of bashing. Anyone have any recommendations?

Is that all dust or mud?
For the intake you can look at the ford Everglades air box lid. It will route your intake to the rear side. If that’s water/mud.
if that’s all dust look at the Donaldson air filters to keep that dust out of the engine. They are known for superior air filtration in desert conditions.

I did this back in the day in the late 70's with much less complicated vehicles. 79 Jeep Cj5 with a 304 V8. Top and doors off, going through mud holes and climbing very steep rocky and muddy hills. I'd have to hose everything off, including the interior- which was steel, painted floors with drain plugs. I'd simply take out floor mats and have at it with a garden hose. That vehicle was so easy to clean. I'd practically get underneath it to hose all the mud off of the undercarriage. Grease fittings everywhere so I'd easily keep everything lubed. I'd spray the simple V8 off too. I would not want to do that with my 40K Bronco today, which is so much more complicated.... and expensive in comparison- even with inflation! (I paid 8K for my brand new CJ5). But I know the fun you are experiencing!

I used XA Zero-Acid Wheel Cleaner and a pressure washer from about a meter away. Just wet the engine and spray the engine down. Let it sit for 10-15 mins and lightly spray off. Probably better to just use a hose and the old thumb nozzle.

Muddy water intrusion and a mix of water and dust. Airbox had a rough day.

So much crap gets into the stock airbox, I invested in a snorkel. Many don't like them, but they have their uses. Everyone thinks that if you have a snorkel, you are trying to go super deep into water/mud. I am just trying to keep my airbox clean and motor breathing from mud and dirt that would usually end up in there like OP found out. Modifying the Everglades snorkel to fit the 2.7 is one way to go or Bourne off-road has one. The Airaid one I have is nice except didn't provide a way to close the stock inlet and Airaid customer service is clueless on it. I just blocked it off myself and been riding fine.
