I also plan to hit Barnwell. PM me as well when you head this way. My lake house is just 40 min north!

Does anyone know if it is legal to drive out the various unpaved roads to the many Soil Conservation Service Site Reservoirs, down powerline roads, or drive through stream beds?

I don't want to have to drive 2 - 3 hours to get to one of the North Texas off-road parks all the time as sometimes I may just want to go explore some nearby trails for a few hours.

I just want to make sure I don't get greeted by a farmer or rancher with his shotgun.

I'm in San Antonio so using that link it looks like there is a trail in the hill country I should be able to check out. Thanks for the link.
I plan on exploring the trail in the hill country too. I just need Ford to hurry up!

Thanks for the info on roads, looking more into the Texas soil conservation service site reservoirs, what I've learned is they were built by the government from the 30's to the 70's but they are all on private land. Several links, below, said the following:
"You MUST contact the land owner for permission to use or you would be trespassing an more than likely shot."
"They are privately owned and the public does not have access to them without landowner permission"

Googling "Texas soil conservation service site reservoir" I found these sites with some info:
https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/6482962/Soil_Conservation_Lakes
http://www.city-data.com/forum/austin/784576-what-soil-conservation-service-site.html
which lead to this link:

Looking at one near me, you can see a few trails around the reservoir so it appears someone is driving there, are wraps available in Kevlar?
