Current UAW contract expires at 11:59 EST tonight (Thu 9/14). The UAW can strike as early as 12:00 AM Friday. Given the unusual approach to negotiations this time around the UAW plans on targeting a select few plants to start only to add more as needed. The UAW has selected one plant each from the Big 3 (GM, Ford, Stellantis). The Bronco/Ranger plant in Wayne is the identified target for Ford.

Unusual strategy. The KTP or Dearborn truck plants would have a much larger financial impact to ford.
My guess is they prioritized based on dealer inventories. Truck inventories are healthier and gives Ford more time to weather the storm.

Consider the Screen Writers and Actors guild strikes. They have been happening for five months now and it’s just now starting to truly impact the industry as they finally ran out of new material produced prior to the strike.

I suspect Fain doesn’t support off roading.
With a 32 hour work week they'll have plenty of time to hit the trails!

Yes.

The other vehicles hit are the Chevy Colorado and Jeep. Off roaders hit VERY hard here.

It does seem like it would be much harder hitting to get the Cleveland Engine Plant where all of the Ecoboost engines are made. That shuts down F-150, Bronco, Mustang, etc., etc. Are they being soft/gracious???

If they hit the engine plant they will shut down those plants and put their members out of work. Part of the strategy is to keep the strike fund as healthy as possible while impacting the Big 3 in a meaningful way. The more members out of work, the quicker the strike fund draws down. If they wanted to shit down all those plants, they would just blanket strike the company.

I just received the Wall Street Journal news flash that UAW went on strike. WTF are they thinking with a 32 work week. This isn’t Europe. The will push more and more production out of this country. Hell, I often work 32 in two days. This must be the participation trophy generation making the demands.
