Was able to finally take my stock base Bronco off roading while on my honeymoon in Red River Gorge! The trails were pretty simple but still super cool and had some steep slippery inclines, water crossings, shallow muddy ruts, and some very small obstacles.

The trails were called Lairson Road and Bald Rock Fork Road and aren’t too far away from Natural Bridge in Rogers, KY. On OnX off road the trails are listed as 1 and 3 respectively.

My take aways…
1.) Super impressed with the base Bronco! Like I said before there wasn’t anything too crazy but there were some muddy ruts and some super slippery and steep inclines and I never felt unsafe in the Bronco at all. At one point I had the Bronco tilted sideways at 14 degrees and I felt like I was looking at the ground from my driver side window. There was a Toyota Sequoia that had some BFG KO2s on it that was behind us. At one point they got stuck on a steep inclines and couldn’t make it all the way up due to articulation issues. We made it up without even the tiniest if tire slipping.
2.) Shout out to OnX Off Road. The app made it super simple to find the trails as well as navigate them. Had no issues at all when navigating the trails.
3.) I want some 33” A/T tires very soon! The stock Duelers actually really impressed me though and handled everything without issue. I would also like some steel underbody protection.
4.) After the above are added on, I want to start doing some slightly more difficult trails! I know I have a base so I can’t do anything too crazy but after not having any issues at all today I think some bigger tires and underbody protection would be all I need to do something a little more challenging.

It was nice to finally get my Bronco dirty and I can’t wait to do more!

Nice, a lot of fun can be had in a stock vehicle on mild trails.
Congratulations on the wedding and enjoy the honeymoon.

Awesome to get your base out on the trails! I see that you have a 25, have you done the Bronco Off Rodeo? You really get a learning experience on what the Bronco is capable of.

I haven’t done it yet! We had one planned but some life things happened and we just haven’t gotten back to rescheduling it. We want to do the Tennessee one at some point!

Do it! You will learn a lot and have a lot of fun! The people are great! I did mine at the Texas facility in early March and had a blast!

Definitely register and find out when your voucher expires. The BOR experience is very informative especially for new owners.

Don’t let your off roadeo expire. Schedule it out in the fall, you’ll have a blast.

Wise terrain selection keeps the Bronco intact and undamaged. Base will go a lot of more difficult places...light weight.

Its not wimpy its smart. I offroad dirtbike a lot and youd be shocked at how many disabled, broken and damaged vehicles I see.

These are 5000 lb vehicles, and unless you have money to burn, gentle treatment will ensure reliability and healthy life.
