TAVT question for the Georgia Club:
If I buy my Bronco from say Granger out of state and I trade in my current vehicle with them, would I still get a TAVT credit on my trade in when paying my taxes on my new bronco like I would if I did my trade in with a Georgia dealer?

I am buying from Granger but am not trading a car. Not sure on this one. I believe on the tax front if you are financing with them they will allow you to tell them the tax amount to be put into the loan and they will cut you a check for that amount to be used when you are registering it.

Thanks, that's good info!
I'm gonna have to call the state and find out....this would be another savings of possibly thousands as well and will most likely be my deciding factor on whether I buy out of state.

I'd be interested in hearing what you find out if you figure this out!

Will do....waiting to hear back from my Tag Office

Yes you will. They will collect TAVT and send it to GA on your behalf. The trade tax credit will be given.

Well that is how we handle out of state loans etc at my store. We collect the tax on customers behalf and send to their local tag offices etc. Financed deals that is usually required by the lender to make sure the vehicle is registered etc.

We bought a newish used car for cash at a Tennessee dealer a few years back and they did not collect any tax for us. We were a bit shocked at the ammount the state wanted. Just be prepared and save that amount from your down payment. IIRC the state's TAVT estimator was dead on for my Bronco.

So I just heard back from my County Motor Vehicle Director. He said:
"Just make sure that the trade in is listed on your bill of sale and there shouldn’t be a problem with getting a credit."

Granger said they do not collect taxes for out of state buyers, but a previous reply to this thread said they will add it in to the loan and cut you a check if you wanted.

I did the math and it is absolutely amazing.......
MSRP on my build would be $56,360. Badsquatch with Lux. My Georgia dealer(will only do MSRP) says finance amount is $60,322.17(I have this in writing).
If I buy from Granger and trade-in my current vehicle(assuming I get BELOW market for my trade in), My finance amount with adding in the taxes with the trade in credit would be $54,100. I even added a little buffer for that number so it should be worst case scenario....
That's $6,222.17 of savings(which will actually be more throughout the finance period)......
SORRY GA DEALERS, THAT IS A NO BRAINER. GOING TO GRANGER! EVEN IF I HAVE TO WAIT LONGER

@Hobgoblin I have a reservation with Granger and just got a build preview email today. How can I be part of the private group you mentioned? I’m trying to find the best logistics on how to get my Bronco home whether it’s flying out there or having it shipped.

Congratulations! That is great news. I will add you to the thread. There are some details on the group shipping there. I am planning on flying up and driving home but it is good to have options.

@404Bronco Does the price you quoted $60,322.17 from a Georgia dealer include trade-in credit ? At the end of the day Granger is offering a $1000 discount on MSRP. I am not clear on how you got $5222 additional discount. Appreciate how you came up with that number. Thinking to go with granger by trading in by 2007 crv. wondering how much discount I would get overall...

@JWBroncoATL gotcha... so overall we get $1000 from granger. are there any other benefits I am missing? If it is just $1000 then I would probably get it from one of the Georgia dealers.

You bet. This stuff is hard to find if you don't see it when it is new. Took me a bit to find it when I knew what I was looking for from the start.
