Anyone else out there with Serramonte Ford? I gave them a call today not sure I liked how the conversation went. I didn’t get much info out of except the fact that they would call me at the end of the year probably November for my order.

I'm with them currently but I am going to switch because of a similar conversation. Just don't trust that they honor no ADM or my x plan.

It's my nearest dealer and haven't been hearing great things either. Their loss.

This was my default and it is where I'm sticking with. I was reached out to by the GM Matt Shone and he so far has followed up and answered all my questions. He has even called me and emailed himself directly several times. I'm not going to put his information up here, but if you want to call him or reach him I'm sure he will respond. Not often do you get a GM that is so involved, and he also has a vehicle on order, just like us.

thats good news about the GM, he also emailed me back in july when my reservation was first confirmed. maybe i will try to email him and see if i have a better conversation, otherwise i might end up switching.

I worry about switching dealers or doing a group buy. We don't know until our vehicle is in the parking lot and I don't trust what someone says until it is in the parking lot. If I switch dealers and have a terrible experience, I'm going to kick myself. I know some folks are going to do a group buy and I wish you guys all the luck in the world, I am sticking where it defaulted me to for the reasons above. If folks really ever had a good experience at a dealer, would it be such a hot topic? No. Its like rolling dice.

Ok I am saying F these CA dealers, if 6 folks are on board I say we switch to Granger take a look......
So far not a single CA dealership has been very transparent or are willing to be competitive with a well-known Ford dealer and member here, @Granger Ford. Albert has been nothing short of fabulous in this forum representing Granger Ford in Granger, IA and for our small group, we decided to change our reservation to Granger and are inviting others to join us. For our small group, it came down to the combination of transparency and excellent pricing… and with that we decided to work with Granger.

So here are the details followed by links with more details. Granger is offering the following pricing for out of state buyers:

Invoice -$1,300 if you have X-Plan (if not, you can sign up for $25 here)
+$100 DOC
+$45 Transit tag
+$725 Group Shipping (handled by Granger) - this is a discounted shipping rate so there are a couple of caveats in this estimate:
1) this estimate could increase if fuel prices spike by delivery next year
2) requires a full load of six vehicles (may have to wait until there are six vehicles ready to ship)
3) add $250-300 for one-off shipping

The more that we have join in, the faster the deliveries will be… so please join us!

I am interested. Is there any added CA registration fee for out of state car purchase?

@thattrue32 my res is with serramonte and I'm definitely switching. The day after I got my res the GM confirmed over email they would be charging ADM on mine. Yes he responds to emails but that's irrelevant to me if they want ADM.

I'll pull the trigger on Granger most likely, either with direct shipping or a group ship deal to somewhere central and easy like WC, concord or Livermore if people are up for it.

One word of caution, Albert at Granger has said that individual vehicle shipping quotes to the Bay Area are $1,200.00 to $1,300.00 so if we do this we should probably ask Albert how much savings there is on six at a time. The $725.00 quote was to Colorado I believe?

I have already reached out to see what it would cost if we have a full carrier for shipping which should reduce the price quite a bit

So we need 6 (or multiples of 6) willing to switch to granger if your up for it let me know.

I am definitely considering it. The other thing to sort out will be date of reservation. Broncos will be arriving in Iowa for six months. I'm early September and nobody that reserved in July will want to wait for my Bronco to arrive in Iowa.

I’m already with Granger and am planning to fly out. But ya never know, if shipping was a good deal, and circumstances changed I open to joining.

I’m Bay Area as well.

How much of a pain is it to get a vehicle shipped from out of state registered in CA? I haven't done that before. Towne put in writing that they would honor X Plan so I'm leaning that direction unless I won't have to spend hours at the DMV or something as difference between X Plan and Granger (+shipping) isn't huge. Basically 0 difference with individual shipment and maybe save a few hundred bucks with group shipment. Ideally we find a transparent and trustworthy CA dealer that will beat X Plan but I'm not super optimistic.

I do worry a bit about a bait and switch with any CA dealer but hopefully that doesn't happen with something in writing.

I agree that shipping one car from Granger is a wash. Shipping six cars could be a big savings however. Hopefully Albert at Granger gets back to zconner today with an estimate.

yeah I'd like to see what the estimate is and potentially switch to granger
